Relax Jeska! This is an autobiographical descriptive. As the Neualtenburg Projekt is handed off to the next generation of brilliant visionaries (my time in SL is reduced due to a pregnancy), I can't help but come back to reflect upon the analogy that accompanied the launch of SL's first experimental governmental sim: Ulrika is Hitler. As many have realized, politics and player run-governments can exist in SL, engaging those with interest and not affecting those without. A governmental sim is hardly one of the three horsemen of the apocalypse (as it was billed) and I'm happy to say that I have not become a goose-stepping authoritarian. Very shortly the project will transition to a new private sim with a brand-new group of participants. Yet, to be a project for the people, by the people, and of the people, it needs your time, investment, and input. This is not a for-profit endeavor rather this is a project for all those with a general interest in virtual politics. As a post in the General forum, I ask all to suggest features, recommend changes, discuss concerns, and even join the next phase of the movement. How do you feel about SL government and what would you like to see in the next phase of our project? ~Ulrika~

I've probably grumbled about SL government enough, but I still think you govt. types have the basis of a good idea... I just wish there was a bit more cleverness about involving the rest of us. Your own little utopia is well and good, but there could be so many more cool things! For example, to quote myself (haw haw haw) From: someone Having a bonded sellers program would be a start. What if a central body or government signed up retailers to a program where the retailers agreed to stick to a code of practice and dispute resolution process in return for being able to display the ‘bonded retailer’ logo on their stalls? The retailer would pay L$500 or-so as a bond, in case they failed to uphold a dispute resolution against them. This would be one really useful way SL government could solve problems related to trusting retailers and consumers getting value for money. Take it or leave it, I would love to see something like this.. and it would be the first 'drip' in the flood of potential SL government..

I too was a grumbler. I grumbled during the initial push, pre-Nberg, for an SL wide player representative body. I did grumble a bit also when there were a few "I told you so" type statements made in reference to some issues outside Nberg, after it was already up and running. That said, I really do appreciate that the Nberg folks have and are exploring the city-state scenario. It's truly an educational service to all SLers, regardless of the end result.

From: Cristiano Midnight Zugzug, you are having a baby?? Yes, I am. It's been discussed in the Neualtenburg forum (like the General forum but without the nasty aftertaste) but I guess I never made a formal General forum announcement. That's one of the main reasons I'm in SL only a fraction of how much I used to be. Aside from that the only other major change has been a strange aversion to putting babies in boxes! ~Ulrika~

Congratulations! That is really exciting and I'm happy for you. Wow first Schwanson, now you. All my favorite people are having babies (although you are doing a bit more of the work than Schwanson). You have grown up so fast! That is wonderful news

Is the fourth horseman a victim of down-sizing?

True, but that was a surprise attack....I would think all the Sheep in Schwans region know who he is by now and hide when they see him coming

Congrats are in order for Ulrika, but are better suited to the Notices forum, please try to keep this thread on the topic of the Neualtenburg Projekt and how it relates to SL as whole. Thanks!
