That’s a cute story Candie,

I think they are just trying to be part of the pride by hanging out where you hang out, and getting involved in some of the same activities you get involved in.

If they are bugging you too much maybe get them some toys?

My wife got our cats a “boogie mat” (a small soft mat type thing that you can add catnip too), and they go nuts over it (I think my cat has a catnip problem).

LOL consider yourself lucky:

My cat guards me from my wife. She will lay on my when I sleep and if my wife gets to close she will scratch and bite (its pretty funny to me at least). I pamper my cat so much my wife gets jealous.

Last cats I had thought they were walking blenders they destroyed the end of an Artic Swirl pattern Sectional by turning the end into shreded couch.

What was worse was we gave them to my cousin and got a dog and the dog finished the job on the couch by eating potporrie and throwing it all back up on the couch.

now I have two ferets and two dogs and all 4 give each other hell so it was a good trade off in the end...LOL

But unfortunately my son is alergic to Cats so we cant have them anymore.

sniff

When my cats (which I sadly dont have anymore) would try to eat my dinner of my plate or walk across the keyboard etc., I'd just blow in their faces... they hated that and almost always ran away. Less nasty than spraying them with water :)

Of course, you should be careful to not be in the middle of eating something when you do! Sneeze, the youngest, stopped trying to repeatedly walk across my keyboard when I absentmindedly blew most of a half munched cookie all over her head!

My other cat reppelant is an almost life-sized stuffed toy tiger. It scared the hell out of my old landlady's cats. Although I don't think it would be suitable for most cat owners to strategically place large fake predators everywhere you don't want your cats to go :D

My roomates oldest cat has for some reason decided he wants to hang round me all the time (no I am not the feeder, nor do I give him catnip, i.e. we don't have a *Good as it Gets* Nicholson/Verdell situation, and he positions himself right between the monitor and me. Go figure.
He will literally stand there as long as I let him, meowing as if he thinks I don't know he exists. (Jeez, doesn't this cat realize SL is for me as a can of tuna is for him?)
So the blocking of the monitor with his big , old cat booty, is it intentional?

Update on the Evil Duo...

Well, here's where I am with Pushkin and Pumpkin. After discussing this with their vet and thinking about it some more, I came to a few conclusions.

First, whenever Pushkin has worried about me, she always spends more time physically closer to me. So I think with my worsening health problems in the past few months, she's worried, and hence the monitor sitting. When I'm not at the computer, I'm usually in bed, and she lays right next to me there too. She usually lays at my side, but has taken to laying right on my pillow by my head.

So I thought I needed to do 2 things. One is to try to reassure her more that I'm ok, and the other is to let her spend the time she feels she needs to 'guarding' me.

So I put a shelf on top of my new monitor. The shelf is made for this, so doesn't bother the vents. But then there's that big-bushy-persian-tail-on-the-screen problem. So I took a shallow plastic drawer about the same size as the shelf, used double sided sticky stuff to attach it to the shelf. Then I added some old soft rags I can throw in the washer, and Pushie is now happy as could be with her new 'nest'.

Now Pumpkin is dumb as dirt, I'm afraid, and has yet to come up with an original idea in his life. In other words, what Pushie does, Pumpkin does. So that's why he was climbing on the monitor.

Whenever Pushie takes over a new 'spot', I always get Pump a new toy. But with Pushie's new monitor 'spot'... I had forgotten to get Pump a new toy. So I got him several, along with some new treats. And now he's happy too.

Sooo... my cats are happy, I'm no longer worried about them, my monitor is dry, and my screen is free of bushy Persian tails.

I appreciate all the advice and good wishes :)

I've had cats all my life, and these 2 are really special. I had a 3rd -- Chessie -- who was 2 years younger than Pump, but she died about 2 years ago. She was also a Persian -- a brown tabby -- and a tiny little thing, only 4 pounds.

I don't have pics but Pushkin is a blue-cream -- primarily pale silver with some variegated cream through her fur. When she's in sunlight she looks blue. She's a beauty, and she knows it. Pumpkin is a huge ball of fluffy orange fur with white 'socks', very huggable :)

And now I'm struggling with an urge to get another kitten...

Thanks,
Candie

A- Plant mister, two applications to the face and they will run as soon as your hand is seen near the bottle:D
B- Duct tape formed into loops- aka carpet tape- placed in odd patterns where felines are verboten works quite well:cool:
