Update on the Evil Duo...
Well, here's where I am with Pushkin and Pumpkin. After discussing this with their vet and thinking about it some more, I came to a few conclusions.
First, whenever Pushkin has worried about me, she always spends more time physically closer to me. So I think with my worsening health problems in the past few months, she's worried, and hence the monitor sitting. When I'm not at the computer, I'm usually in bed, and she lays right next to me there too. She usually lays at my side, but has taken to laying right on my pillow by my head.
So I thought I needed to do 2 things. One is to try to reassure her more that I'm ok, and the other is to let her spend the time she feels she needs to 'guarding' me.
So I put a shelf on top of my new monitor. The shelf is made for this, so doesn't bother the vents. But then there's that big-bushy-persian-tail-on-the-screen problem. So I took a shallow plastic drawer about the same size as the shelf, used double sided sticky stuff to attach it to the shelf. Then I added some old soft rags I can throw in the washer, and Pushie is now happy as could be with her new 'nest'.
Now Pumpkin is dumb as dirt, I'm afraid, and has yet to come up with an original idea in his life. In other words, what Pushie does, Pumpkin does. So that's why he was climbing on the monitor.
Whenever Pushie takes over a new 'spot', I always get Pump a new toy. But with Pushie's new monitor 'spot'... I had forgotten to get Pump a new toy. So I got him several, along with some new treats. And now he's happy too.
Sooo... my cats are happy, I'm no longer worried about them, my monitor is dry, and my screen is free of bushy Persian tails.
I appreciate all the advice and good wishes
I've had cats all my life, and these 2 are really special. I had a 3rd -- Chessie -- who was 2 years younger than Pump, but she died about 2 years ago. She was also a Persian -- a brown tabby -- and a tiny little thing, only 4 pounds.
I don't have pics but Pushkin is a blue-cream -- primarily pale silver with some variegated cream through her fur. When she's in sunlight she looks blue. She's a beauty, and she knows it. Pumpkin is a huge ball of fluffy orange fur with white 'socks', very huggable

And now I'm struggling with an urge to get another kitten...
Thanks,
Candie
