You People Make Me Sick!

My first day back in SL. I got rid of all the stressers in my game experience. Then I decide to join a group that a few of my friends are in. I mean the more excuses you have to hang with your friends right. So I am interviewing to get into this group, listing all the things I can offer, I can build, script a little, write, own a casino, run a few groups of my own blah blah blah... Things are going quite well. Until the leader of the group tell me who his second is...Death Grace.

Before I could even explain why I didn't get along with Death Grace, I get this whole he is the more important to me than my fiancee...he is so wonderful...and anyone who has a problem with him can't be in my group etc. I didn't even get a chance to say, "I don't want to be in a group with someone that would hold him so highly." I knew the interview was over the moment I heard Death Grace but the guy didn't have to be so mean to me.

After I did explain the issue, everything he said to me still stood of course. Didn't even get an apology for him snapping on me for not worshipping Death Grace like everyone else seems to. I am so sick of my gaming experience being sodomized by a wonderful, nice, kind, gentle, friendly Nazi. Are you people broken in the head? If you hate me cause your friend hates me and your friend hates me cause I am black THEN JUST BY YOUR SWASTIKA, PASTE IT ON YOUR FOREHEAD AND KEEP ME FROM WASTING MY TIME TALKING TO YOU!

I am so frustrated right now...

You have to interview to get into a group?

Kas, Second Life is a big big place - there's gotta be a way not to run into this guy... I mean there are a few people around that I just outright detest, but I hardly ever run into them at all (maybe once every 2 months).

As for me, I've never run into Mr Grace... guess I'm lucky that way

Which group is this, so I know not to bother trying to join?

The group was...Associates. I wanted to wear my little suit and carry my little briefcase around and hang with my friends while they were running around in their little suits.

Trust me. I don't TRY to run into him. I don't TRY to join groups where he is revered. I am either just the most unfortunate person in the world or half the game is made up of half a$$ bigots.

On, another note: I did run into Death Grace some weeks ago at my Aunty's event. Luckily for him, he didn't dare cross da Squee. >:3

so is it all of SL that makes you sick or just this group? I mean most of "Us People" on SL are a friendly group.

You didn't have to stay and listen to all of that crap? why didn't you just TP out of there?

If I must qualify the "you" I guess I was talking about all the people that think crap like this is okay.

None of this came up the 30 minutes I spent cyber kissing some super dorks butt to get into this group. It came up at the end of the interview and if he went off on my faster than I had time to explain what makes you think I had time enough to TP? I of course left right after, but this was not a situation that could have been avoided had I just left because I didn't know what was coming.

Here I was in total suck up mode and suddenly the person I am sucking up to is telling me how much he loves Death Grace and how Death Grace is more important to him than his fiancee (fiancee sitting right there) and if I have a problem with Death Grace I can get out. I was surprised, my feelings were hurt, I was mad...blah blah blah...I am over it now, but I am so tired of people telling me "this isn't a problem" but it keeps happening, figured maybe if I documented each incident (and ranting makes me feel better, I write, so putting my anger and frustration on the page takes it out of me faster) might make people understand, this happens far too much.

But maybe I am going about this all wrong. If this were a RL issue I would...yeah! that is what I am gonna do!

Kas you must have horrible luck or something... I never met the guy and I don't agree with any type of racism... but on a side not... why were you kissing someone's ass to join a group? The group can not be that great to put yourself in such a position...

I have this thing about getting into things that take effort to join. They are usually better than groups that stand in the welcome area and mass invite.

But now I am hearing things like he would not let one person in cause their eyes looked too Asian, so I think I was just trying to join the wrong group.

I think basing the worth of a group by its exclusionism is almost asking for discrimination of SOME kind.

Why would you. of all people, who has had such a problem with 'elitist' mentalities in SL want to join a group that doesnt allow anyone to join. Doesnt that suggest a bit of 'bias' against members kept 'out'???

And you were sucking up to get in this 'members only' group??

You SOUGHT membership in a group BASED on the fact that they excluded people based on 'some' criteria, and were shocked to realize that you met that criteria???

Kas, I am not trying to offend here...but based on this post and other posts you have made in the past regarding prejudices and attitudes in SL (specifically racism), I think you are going about this all wrong.

I wont pretend to have the anwers, but I suggest you read back through your posted actions over the past months...and strike out in a different, new, and hopefully MORE postiive and fun direction for you in SL. Good luck!!!

Wow...Alana that was some serious "I see what I want to see." Yes, part of the appeal of the group was that you had to work to get in it, but that is not what is was BASED on. It was BASED on one of the first things I said.

As for elitism, the Associates did not self declare themselves the masters of anything (thats like the one plus they have going) and if you weren't completely reading whatever you wanted into my words, you would remember the first thing I said in that thread was "I want to help but I could never apply for this because it would be for all the wrong reasons." Let me try to explain the difference this way, if you weren't in LFs group, you could be considered a lesser builder because they are the masters and you aren't one. No one not in the Associates is considered a lesser person because they never declared themselves masters.

So yes, I like being in groups that find I have some worth other than the ability to find and click the join button. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Heck, I even applied to 16 different colleges and if even one of them sent back a letter stating, "Sorry, our vice president is a neo-nazi and even though you would be a perfect addition to the school, we can't let you in." I would be pissed then too.

Assuming this is true, what the hell kind of group is this? So-and-so can't join because his eyes look too Asian? Is this the Fifth-Grade-Lunchroom/Playground-Reinactment Society or something?
