A new Av to get to know

Hello all, Aydyn here. Just wanted to drop by and say hello. I'm new to the world and figured an introduction was in order. Right after this I'm going to jumpstart my free trial into my membership and go back inworld.  A little about myself - 21 yr old Puerto Rican male. College student majoring in Video Production at the Art Institute of Atlanta. Pretty outgoing and love the social aspect of SL. Im not into building just yet, but it is a possibilty. Most into 3d design I get is I mess around with Poser and enjoy making simple render's. Umm, not much more to say I guess. Any questions?!? If not, I have a few. When I signed up it said I get 512 something or another of land. How does this work, right now it seems as though I don't get any land at all and have to purchase it. <Which is kidna a bummer, when I signed up I was under the impression I started with a small slice of land.> is there a way to make macro's or hotkeys for certain Actions?!? Having to open the Inv. and click an action everytime I want to use it is redundant. I have more but they slipped my mine, I'm sure I will remember soon and post again. |

If you signed up for a monthly account, you can participate in the first land program. There is a link in the main page to it. Basically you get 512sqm for L$512.
Look me up in-world and I'll help you get started any way I can.

You don't actually get the land... you get the "right" to buy "up to" that amount of land. 'That's called "tier". You go over that, and you'll set another "tier" and have to pay more on your next bill. No macros... nice idea. Welcome to SL!!

Btw, I attached a crappy pic of my Av. I have better ones but they are all snapshots in game, not sure if I can get them out. <I looked, but didnt find anything in the SL folder>

One other thing is, why does it still say im a guest. I stopped my free trial and am a premium member. But it says I still am a quest <And i'm guessing since I am a guess I cant edit my old post, thus the double post, sorry>

Hello and welcome! There are many things you should be aware of when you buy land. First, you're best off getting some First Land, which you can find by going to Find > Land Sales > and typing in 512 in both of the text boxes (yes, you will have to buy your first land, but since it is Linden land, you get the best price). I don't know if you're aware of Mature and PG sim ratings, but if you want to have anything R-rated in your house (or be able to swear like a sailor), you should probably look for a Mature sim. Another thing to keep in mind is that while you are allotted 512 m, if you buy a plot that is larger than that, you WILL have to pay more per month. TLC (The Learning Center) has some great classes in world on land ownership and all things related to land. Not too many people understand tiers and so forth and Jamie Otis explains things very nicely. Good luck!

I am in the same situation, I just joined SL about 7 days ago and I have been through every link and every possible combination to try and figure it out. It is still reading me as a guest and I can't edit my posts
