Wow, having an opinion is one thing but they go to ridiculous lengths.

One question, though: Who are they getting their mailing lists from? LOL!

It goes on to say that: This is the single-most important issue after fighting Islamist terrorism (it specifically reads "Islamist", quotes an LA Times poll that purports that 72% of Americans oppose gay marriage, calls attention to the plight of adopted children exploited by gay activists who have liberalized adoption laws, begs for donations and both personal and governmental petitions, and concludes by saying that same-sex marriage will cause America and its children to suffer. (Eep, if it was that easy for me to condense all of that down to one paragraph...)

Hehe, long story...

And they call themselves "Christians."

Islamist is the proper term for militant Islamic extremists, so as to distingusish them from the majority of normal peaceful Muslims.

These right wing Christian extremists are actually becoming dangerous as fascist party.

Consider Patrick Henery University (this is taken directly from their web site):

So here you have an entire college dedicated to teaching people that their concepts (based on faith and not science) are the only true concepts, hence the hate of anyone who violates those, such as homosexuals, who just happens to be the whipping boy today, but when they have eradicated homosexuality - have no fear they will find a new whipping boy.

More importantly, these students are being specifically trained to infiltrate the government at all levels.

School vouchers and the loss of funds, thus the decline of the level of education in public schools have encouraged even secular famlies to put their children in schools sponsoring religion. This way they can begin training them to hate even younger.

As government continues to pull the rug out from under lower and middle class people by reducing wages and employment opportunities and lowering social security benefits it pushes people closer to accepting these radical ideals because it will be the only way that they can feed their famlies and take care of themselves.

When people are homeless or starving because they can't find jobs or if one of their children is sick and they have no means of getting health care except by asking the church for charity - do you think that they will reject the church's ideals then? Where else can they turn?

An even more serious question is where will they direct their anger? I think that I've shared the fact that I have a brother who is gay and who was critically beaten and hospitalized by of a group of hateful young "Christian" men. That's what they called themselves anyway, Christian.

When this happened in Germany it was direct toward Jewish people but it certaintly didn't end with them - where will it start in America? Or has it already started?

ACLU = May have been started by a socialist, but I don't think they can be described as an anti-christian hate group, or a bunch of radical homosexuals...(they are "Lawyers" - which could be considered as being pretty bad in and of itself...)

Sad that supposed "Christian" groups such as this one are doing the same thing to Christianity that the Islamic extremists are doing to Islam....

That letter made me sick. Fuck them. They don't care about families at all.

I am a gay Christian. Groups such as the FRC would consider those states as being mutually exclusive. It pains me that a vast contingent from my own faith community has, in an increasingly palpable way, positioned itself to be my adversary.

I am not one to say that there is no absolute truth out there; I just think there is nearly an infinite grayscale in between the black and the white. Despite all of our present-day "knowledge," I for one believe we haven't even begun to scratch the surface, especially with regard to human nature. I also think that there is a major distinction between wisdom and knowledge.

I agree, Rose, that faith and science each have a valid and respectable place in society. I further believe that the two can peaceably co-exist. Ignoring one for the other leads only to myopia. Am I damned for being gay, a state of being that I never wanted or asked for? That's where faith comes into play, for my faith derives from a God who I believe transcends all of humanity's ignorance and triviality.

Evil letter, you should burn it like the rubbish it is.

Seriously, I once had respect for James Dobson. I thought he was a Christian counselor who understood the meaning of 1 John 4:7-8. But the last few years he's proven to be a stealth fundemental extremist, on par with the publisher of Chick Publications.

Dobson subscribes to all of the useless claptrap in these books...I've heard such views spouted off in his Focus on the Family series. It's shameful. But it's interesting that Islamic extremists have (it seems to me) quite a lot in common with Christian extremists. They hate those that are different from them, and will do a lot to persecute them. The only difference is that Islamic extremists are at least honest in admitting they'd kill for their beliefs. I'm very convinced Christian extremists like Dobson would kill as well, if they could somehow get away it while looking like respectable American citizens.

Wow, Liona! I didn't think anyone knew about Chick publications' stuff, these days. LOL. Ever read their book, He Came to Set the Captives Free by Dr. Rebecca Brown, MD (although I'm not sure the MD can be substantiated)? Oh, the stories I could tell...

Like you, I used to catch the FoF broadcast pretty regularly. Back in the day, their focus was on personal growth way more than political action. Know what's weird? About 11 years ago, I was this close (*hold thumb and forefinger an inch apart*) to working for them.

As for drahma -- yeah, wth? C'mon people, this is all about strife, division and coordinating outfits! Seriously, though, my intent here was not to incite drama. I'd love a good debate, though.

Addendum: This might be my favorite website ever.

What scares me is how those books could mold minds. I was a little kid when I saw a couple of these little Chick comic booklets scattered around the ground. I read 'em, and was in horror at the evil fate that awaited me. My mother, for a short while, took these booklets to heart. She bought into the idea that D&D was satanic, and Piers Anthony was the Devil. She thankfully got out of that mode of thinking...it really didn't suit her anyways.

But I know two things today: Chick comics are neo-Christian extremist propaganda...and Piers Anthony is the Devil.

I'm not sure if I should say, "You're Welcome!"....

Or be very, very afraid.
