SL Governments - can they govern what happens privately between consenting adults?

It has been proposed SL Governments have the right to have rules about what consenting avatars do privately that don't involve anyone outside their private area?

Does this make sense? Or should an SL government only step in when there are people outside the private area are involved?

Or should an SL government never be involved?

I think a more pertinent question might be:

"Can SL Government solve the Middle Eastern peace crisis?"

Or perhaps:

"Can SL Government affect the price of fine Korintji Cinnamon exported by Sri Lanka?

Government this ...
Government that ...

Government, government, government ...

Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, BLAH!

It's all the same ...

Hasn't it occured to you that majority, and I say that lightly, do NOT want an SL government?

This thread will end up like all the others(even if I didn't post), with that nice little lock icon on it, ending with the nice little message from Jeska Linden, falling down the line, into the forum void.

Nick,

Philip himself said in the last townhall that he thinks a player resident system for resolving disputes is the best way to go

And none of my threads have ever been locked because I really don't get inolved in the name-calling.

blaze

Your posts are becoming repetitive and increasingly more boring. Read our lips. No matter how many times you post on this subject, or sub subjects thereof, NO resident government/judicial system in SL ever.

Will Philip want a player run system when a considerable number of us cancel our membership and tier payments? Actually, then he won't need resident government, there will be too few left to govern.

Go join Ulrika in N-berg and leave the rest of us out of it.

Bah to governments!

I hail from The Sims Online where there were DOZENS of little start up governments, not only did they all fail, but failed misserably.

The only one that *kind* of made it was my mock government of self-proclaimed rulers (The Empire of Cornelius Vanderbilt) who just sat around, drank punch and thought up longwinded official sounding titles for ourselves. :D We actually had public support because we interfeared in no way with anything but were mildly entertaining - it pissed off the other governments hehe...

I usualy just let them try and watch for the inevitable crash and burn, it can be fun to watch! :p
