Ah, to know the good ol' days again, building my crap-tastic shop in the shadow of Dave Zeeman's matrix mountain.

I think I annoyed him when I was a n00b. I dunno.

Does anyone here have three or more houses near to each other, and can you give me the name of two or more of your neighbours? :)
on the mainland i know of the communities in immaculate, maroon, slate, taber, natoma, and zoe. actually the taber, natoma, and zoe communities are neighbors to each other; those three sims are close to each other. i don't have house, but i live on communal land. our group has pool our tier and bought land as a community. so there are sl communities still out there. :)

Aaah the good old days in Boardman when Cai, Sapp and Shane (last two are long gone from SL :() were my close neighbours - we used to build our houses and gardens and hang out. Shane made us streetsigns and housenumbers, I remember loving seeing Cai on her new swing in her garden from where I was decorating in my garden. This was when we still had a view in Boardman - when Tan was just an ocean :) awww you got me all nostalgic. I have wanted this feeling back for a while tho...

I'd like a combo of 1 and 2 - i'd like houses, a few shops, apartment complexes are my speciality and I'd like people hanging out. Close to a telehub... and ummm, who wants to share a sim!! :D

I think mostly I miss friends past... There have been many friendly faces whose calling cards are now permanently set to 'offline'.

I think I should get 'out' in SL more and make new friends or risk becoming isolated in the long grass :)

Beryl, I think a community is composed of a group of people that take an active role in their surroundings to make a better place for all.

Whether that means they build a nice business area, or just a group of homes, or both, as long as they have a group vision of what they are hoping to accomplish, I believe they would be a community.

Currently in Slate, we are moving towards a new Theme; if you haven't yet seen it, you really should. We have built an Old West theme town (Red River City), that contains some of the most beautifully decorated buildings ever (Thanks to Jeanie Moonflower and Catherine Cotton). We hope that after we have our Grand Opening (December 3, @7:00PM PST) we will begin to transform the other areas of Slate to match this theme.

For everyone out there that thinks we are abandoning our Natural/Outdoor theme, you couldn't be further from the truth. Instead of just populating our area with nice homes and parks, Kenichi Chen has a vision by which we transform the SIM into a historically correct Old West area. We hope to have a true Native American village, along with other surprises that everyone will just have to wait on :)

We are also currently looking for a clothier who would make some custom outfits for this theme, and a scripter who can work with us and help make some of our more "dare to dream" ideas come to fruition. If anyone reading this would like to help out, please IM myself, Kenichi Chen, Jeannie Moonflower, Catherine Cotton, or Brad Lupis in-world to setup a time when we can sit down and talk about what we are doing and possibly how you can be a part of it.

Last thing I want to mention on this subject is, congratulations to all those people who had a vision of what their community would look like and went and made it happen. We in Slate know how difficult it is to get everyone on the same page, but we also know that hard work is rewarded. I think it would be a good thing to gather all the community personell in each community and have a greet and meet party. Matter of fact, I think Slate would be more then happy to be the first Community to host this meeting. I'm not thinking of anything formal, but more of a time when we can all just tour the Community whose hosting the meeting, talk about future plans, and perhaps be able to reach out to one another by helping those communities that might need assistance. Whether it be in construction of structures, scripting items, or just coming up with a plan on getting more people to visit your community.

Now that I have backed myself into that corner, I guess I will need to go ahead and make plans for such a meeting :) How about this Sunday, the 28th, say at 2:00PM PST? This is a decent hour not only for the America's players, but also for our European friends as well. I'll go ahead and fill out an event card for this, and if we find out it's not something that we can pull together this quickly, I can always erase it then. Let me know if you can make this get together, either through PM's here, or you can always email at bobs@leawood.org.

Thanks!

It's not a very active community, at least from my observance, but the folks in Grignano seem to be fairly civil and friendly. The apartment building across the street from my studio usually has a few folks chillin' in it whenever I'm around.

I just finished building a causeway/bridge thing that stretches across the whole of Grignano. Maybe I could make it more "community friendly". What would ya'll want on it?

LF

I have to see this. I really like Grignano, its a good looking city, I rent there and a friend of mine has an apartment in Sal's brownstone. A public lookout with benches on the causeway would be neat... ?

Well, I would hope that the residents of the MegaTower complex in BonnyDoon, Phobos, andM Montara feel like they are a community of residents who can work together to make their home more like a community.

It is nice to hear about all of these communities. It is also very important to remember that we are all human beings being these keyboards -- the AVs are not automated AIbots (at least, not yet ;) ). We do have real thoughts + feelings and what we do impacts each other. Come together.
