If LL decided they had enough of the bullshit going on these days and just nuked the entire world. "sorry due to a computer glitch..." What would you do?

Half of me wishes they did.

If you mean, just reset the world but still kept running?

Probably quit, honestly. At the very least, I would tier down to my standard 512 and never build much of anything again.

I've backed up all my scripts locally, so lindens cant kill them, and they cant get corrupted, and I would still have all my clothing and textures, but as there is no way to back up prims, I would have lost untold hours upon hours of hard work... Most of which I have no desire to spend those hours to recreate.

I would certainly never put any actuall effort into this game again, if i knew spitefull server admins would just wipe it all away whenever the mood struck them.

Play There.

Continue tinkering around with creating my own P2P world with Python.

Invest more time in Active Worlds.

Finally spend the time to discover where one can buy crack in this little one horse town and settle in to live as a hard core junkie.

Or, I don't know, walk the dog.

I would jump up and down for joy and whoop and yell and call Philip Linden and personally congratulate him for doing it !

Amen. If you're here and hate it...uh...why be here anyway?

If LL nuked SL, I'd probably be dissapointed to see such a creative game go bye-bye.

A question was asked And I stated an answer.
Just like everyone else did. and I do believe the thread starter here wanted to see the same thing.

I actually never had a problem with Sl, Just about a dozen people that make 99.9999999% of all the trouble here. Oh well, changes are a comin. I feel it in me bones :)

I'm sad to say that at the moment I probably wouldn't be all that sorry.

One thing I wouldn't do is look for another virtual world. If SL were to end up as a totalitarian regime then there is no hope for any other similar online community. :(

Well, if the grid came back up online, just without any sort of land/objects claimed, I'd find it an interesting day. I'd carve out a substantial empire, crack my knuckles, and set out to conquer the world :)

Recreate my avatar and while I would miss my inventory I'd be glad I had a chance to organize it better this time.

IE: Buisness as usual.

I would probably anim sit_ground, cry for about 30 mins, go afk, kick some stuff around in the garage, decide i can do it better and faster the second time around, and then get to work rebuilding. :)

I hope you have a backup copy of your sit script, Neph, otherwise "anim sit_ground" wouldn't work too well. ;)

Well, I've been, more or less, a gypsy for the last year. I'd certainly survive. I'd miss that big tree Fleabite gave me though :-/

I'd probably ask for reimbursement of what I paid for my land.

Otherwise - given that everyone shares the same malady - I wouldn't mind all that much. My assumption is that there would be a short period afterward when the world would be dull, but then the creative ones would respond to a clean canvas as they respond best: with fresh and vibrant art.

On the other hand, it would be a bit more heavy-handed than one has come to expect from the Lindens.

Laugh.

Get coffee

Laugh some more.

Set Busy.

Then work out what I was gonna build next.

Siggy.

I would take a very deep breath. Be glad that my inventory is finaly cleared out LOL and rebuild, rebuild, rebuild. I would not go find a new game/on line world.

Yes I ment just the data was wiped clean and we all had to purchase new land and start from scratch. No one would be out any money, you would be fully refunded your land costs at say 10L$ per meter (cus they screwed up big time lol) As for builds well they are gone Sorry ;)

hmm..
04-13-2004 07:06
does that mean all new sims as well? completely starting from scratch?

..well, immediately following said catastrophe, i would probably, in order:

- sit gaping at my computer in disbelief
- make an odd sound or two
- continue gaping with my jaw dropped wide open
- exponentially develope into a super-nova
- become the first human black hole
- realize i didn't have much done anyway
- wipe off the dust
- start again with renewed vigor
- join in the insane threads that would explode in the forums

...but i REALLY hope this NEVER happens!!!
(i may not have much in-world.. but there are plenty who do and plenty of creations that would be sorely missed)

oh i misunderstood. i thought that second life was taken offline forever. silly khamon.

if it just got wiped and we had to start all over again with brand new sims etc, i'd find jai and ask her what to do. she'd be executing a fully developed plan five minutes after it happened.

My scripts and textures are saved offline.

Imagining the situation is oddly liberating. I suppose if the entire world were reset, I would work to reconstruct my favorite prim-using avatars and builds, only with the knowledge and skills that I have accumulated during my time in Second Life. Stronger...faster...better.

First, I would wonder exactly what "bullshit" people are talking about since I live a generally stress-free second life.

Second, I might finally get some decent land.

It's pretty much been solely limited to the forums, Julian. Most residents wouldn't even know anything was up.

So shouldn't they nuke the forums?

Hmm... I like the sound of that.
