Has anyone heard any rumors/details/mentions of new sims? Does anyone know if there is a "Master Plan" that the Lindens have?

It's my understanding (real or imagined) that sims are added based on number of users. ie as the population grows, so does the landscape. It's a Linden mystery.

Land in Chartreuse was 100% owned last time I checked.

I wish sims were brought online without any notice. When Chartreuse went online for settlement, the land rush was on in a big way. 95% of the land there was purchased in under three minutes. I wound up with a plot that I eventually sold, but it was a very frustrating endeavor. Finances are always a concern for me and I was I was about to buy a modest 28x32 plot and someone bought a 60x60 right out from under me. If I had the cash, Iprobably would have done the same thing, but it was a drag none the less.

I dont think there is a fair way to get land really. If the sim opening is not annouced, a rich player might happen on to it and buy the whole thing. One thing to look for when a new sim opens up is the land in current sims. There is a good chance that people moving to the new one will release what they had elsewhere. I think Welsh was a ghost town when the last sims opened up.

There is a bunch of decent land, even waterfront in Tehama, but the usage is (or was this am) a whopping 95%. A lot of the builds in Tehama I suspect will be going public, though, fairly soon - a lot of stuff went public today - so Tehama might be a good place to look. I'm not sure about Chartreuse, but I know that everyone who bought into Mauve that first day released every bit of land they had elsewhere. We actually released some 6700 square meters more then we bought in Mauve, I believe, so yes, that whole Taber/Welsh area was pretty desolated for a while.

Chartruse doesn't look populated because it's not, but the land is owned. I wanted to put my mad science lab there but I couldn't find any open land. I eventually settled for Mocha, which is alright, but I would have liked to put some fetish pictures on my builds.

Relee, we apparently have the votes to take Mocha to a MATURE level, following the Gibson model, but if any of your fetishes involve animals, I'm out! LOL!

I don't like people buying all the land in a sim. It seems greedy and doing it for their own personal reasons not thinking of other people. THought I'd say that because I must be heard for something! hehe

Well, there are whole sims full of available lots, but nobody wants to live in the campgrounds or planned communities, even though they are a nice place for new residents to get their bearings.

Personally I think the amount and size of free land isn't the only factor. Important factors are also the "ambience" of the sim and the surrounding environment. Factor those in to different extents (some builds fit into certain environments better than others), and the amount of "available" land shrinks alot...depending on the type of project you're doing. Not that I'm complaining since I'm not even looking...but if I was this would be the biggest factor.

If you guys look at the last sim maintinence, you'll see 2 sims, "Periwinkle" and "Crimson", which do not exist...

That is all I can say.

I'll start passing around the pettition! :D

And what do you mean by animals? I'm not going to put up any billboards of people doing thier dogs and cats, but a few furry pinups would be nice. :)

That's because those sims are non-good looking, and because nobody tells newbies that they can build there. I sure didn't know, untill I was established enough to not want a home there anymore.

Chartruse, is owned mostly buy one particular person. I agree it is totally unfair that one person own more then a certian percentage of a sim.
The way I see it is, there should only be one person, at the moment that is supposed to own a whole sim, and ths is because she won it. The deal on that, was for only 4 mths, at which point she (correct me if I am wrong ) could purchase with rl money.
I would like to see more Mature sims also.
Currently the only land you can purchase in a Mature sim is in Jessie.Which a friend of mine did. While I was helping him build his house, one evening, I was being shot so many times and being sent home I had to quickly change my Home settings. I was living in Brown at the time. Current cost of teleaport fees from Brown to Jessie were $49.00 I think I lost a little over 300. Before I could change the settings. I under stand Jessie has a anything goes, but the constent killing for the Hell of it is out of line.
I do Not think anyone should be able to do it more then a few times, without it being consider abuse. I was killed so much, that I was dead before I finished downloading to the Home setting. This was messing up my pc. It took a friend to ( pay my dues), for it to stop. My Very New friend gave up and moved.
One last note on this part, if any Lindens are reading. Quasi Newbies are showing up in other areas shooting ppl. When Liaisons are called, The Newbie told the Laision, that he was looking for Jessie. After being shown the way to Jessie, He showed back up, at the same area, ( not Jessie ) shooting ppl.
Maybe weaopns should only work in areas that have been designates weapons allowed area. Or w could have a setting that allows us to be protected. To me getting Bounced, while I am workign is no different, then getting Killed., It just cost less.

This might be getting off-topic, but if you're being shot on your own land outside of Jessie, you can edit the land settings to disable outside scripts. Guns won't work with that setting.

If you venture into Jessie, you really must be prepared to defend yourself; that is a part of the social compact - or lack of it - in that region. On the other hand, shooting an obviously unarmed person is somewhat lacking in civility and bad form no matter where you are. Maybe noncomatants in Jessie should be required to sport a large red cross or wear nurses uniforms or carry a white flag or something.
The thing about Jessie that troubles me is that some people there are building huge structures of their own whilst ganging up on others in an effort to prevent them from doing the same. If they want the sim to be a totally non-residential combat sim, they need to investing in land and minimal defensive-type fortifications, rather than large and elaborate commercial structures. Otherwise they are not really in the moral position of telling other landowners there how and what to build on their own land.
Another thing is that it would be a courtesy if, before they killed someone, they might look and see if those potential targets are newbs. If someone is a very new resident, let them know they are in a combat , anything goes sim. They may very well not know, and a simple IM just might keep them from NOT joining us after being killed ten or twenty times.

What do you mean by SMT?

I like most furry stuff. :9

But I don't really care for graphic genitals.

IMO all the pics would be tasteful. :P

SMT = Supermegatopia.com

Something of a borderline PG-13/R furry site that doesn't cross over into the overtly XXX.

As opposed to furnation...

OK, so I agree, there needs to be more Mature sims. At least 33%!

Also, I agree that people who buy lots (or all) of the land in a sim can be viewed as annoying, but with the current rules, its fair game. I, personally, think the Lindens should restrict the limit of land owned in a single sim to 25% (maybe 50%).

A couple of months ago a whole load of new sims came online by mistake. Was fun exploring until the Lindens found out and booted us all off :D

Mauve and Chartreuse were part of this group, so I guess the rest will be along soon. They ran in a line across the entire northern continent from Brown to <whatever the eastern sim is>. Pretty rivers as I recall!

It sounds to me like a tiered tax might help things. The more land you own the higher your tax rate... you know, the opposite of RL taxes in the US :)

If someone can afford the land, then why shouldn't they have it? If you want to build there and they haven't then why not ask them?

In defense to Rathe, in most of the places he owns land, the prim limit is so high that if he were to release that land, the sims would be maxed in a minute, if they weren't already maxed.

Where's that thread about prim limits and land ownership? The statistics were a nice snapshot of the world.
