How has the ongoing failure of not being able to login to SL impacted your?

Several things I've noticed -

-Newer users seem a bit less tolerant these usual upgrade woes, and are starting to ask for refunds.

-Several content creators have decided to halt production until SL stabilizes.

Discuss please.

I haven't had any problems at all since the update, and haven't logged in at all today, so I'd say it hasn't affected me at all :) Things are ALWAYS rocky after an update. I usually just plan on not being on very much in the few days right after one. It always gets sorted out in pretty short order.

I'm using this time to take a vacation from clothing design. I've been able to log in twice today, out of about 50+ tries. The rest of the time I just get booted back to the log in screen from Contacting User Server.

I know they'll get it fixed, so I'm not going to pick up a torch and pitchfork just yet, but it does make it far too frustrating and time consuming to try and log in and out several times to make clothing and take photos. GIMP is a bit of a resource hog, so trying to just keep SL up and running while GIMPing is equally frustrating.

A strange spike in the birth of babies to geeky parents 9 months from today.

More login problems - more silly threads.

If anything - I make *more* when SL is down as there are no other distractions. I made loads of outfits during the upgrade downtime...

Having gone through the 1.5 release, all I can say is that I know that eventually things will get cleared up, and I'll just do the best I can to maintain when I have issues logging in.

It's exceedingly frustrating when you want in and can't get in, but I'll say honestly that what frustrates me MOST is not the login problems, but the lack of any kind of announcement, or even just a simple "Yes, we see you, we are working on the problem please bare with us."

Now, I KNOW that they are working on it - or I'm reasonably sure they are... lol ;) it's just nice and it helps the frustration to be TOLD specifically "Yup, know there's problems, we're doing all we can." Many have posted about the problems, one forum announcement from a Linden would do worlds to help, if people just SEE the acknowledgement. :)

Thankfully, though, I decided that once I got in today, I wasn't logging out unless I was absolutely SURE that I didn't want to go back. :)

Update: Thanks, Pathfinder... I'll shut up for a lil while now. (lookie, lookie ... Pathfinder r0x!)

I've had a few friends threaten to leave. Some are selling land to tier down as we speak. Hey, maybe that will make land prices cheaper!!!! Me personally, I am going to run to Target, get some toilet paper and a gyro, yup, toilet paper and a gyro.

I wouldn't consider leaving or anything like that, all updates have their teething problems and we all usually sit tight and they are fixed, it IS frustrating when you can't log in and it IS frustrating that once your in sometimes your straight out again etc...

I have been having issues with lag, and obviously the texture bug has really screwed me over skin wise, but LL are working on all of these problems, so I will just have to sit back, relax and wait to see the outcome.

Maybe if more ppl took time to test the preview grid, more bugs would be found sooner? I for one admit, this is the first preview grid I have ever gone onto, but I know i will go in future grids to try help out the ironing of bugs before they hit us :)

Hold tight guys!

I was booted off late last night with a 'sim going down' error, but logged on successfully later and this morning. I really haven't had many problems getting on in the morning and at night.

Well maybe this is just the SL equivalent of a natural disaster. :D In first life we have things disrupted by hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and earthquakes all the time, which have a definite impact on the economy (usually just locally though).

I would say a repeat of the pro-rate given for 1.5 is in order, or will be soon if this keeps up.

Natural disaster relief, ya know.

Actually, I have to say that this is a lot better than the 1.5 release.

But that's probably just because I've upgraded to XP2 :)

haven't had a problem logging in since about 20:00 PST the first day and teleporting/rezzing stuff is about 800x more stable than it has been in any major point release since 1.1

oh yeah and ghosting is gone. jesus. that alone makes this worth it five times over.

I can create to my heart's content. Does me no good if I can't log in to make the textures into clothing and get the box photos done.

No. I have been unable to share the joys of not being able to log-in to SL for the last several days because I have been unable to connect to the internet. Cable problems. Problems that may NOT be completely fixed. Dunno yet.

I sell land, I adjust tier downwards, it gets wearing after awhile to keep struggling with all the vicissitudes of this game.

I try to wait on my customers as best as I can but in some cases I am just hanging unable to even fly.

I've lost some business, even if I have gained some efficiency like the individual prim counting.

It sobers the mind wonderfully as to why you don't treat this as anything other than a game. It's good to be reminded of that every once in awhile.

Ghosting is unfortunately not gone. Believe me I'm sorry to say it.

I ghosted four objects on my plot in James the other day. Four objects that I could not delete and which no longer appeared to be there. I tried very hard to convince myself these were not ghosts, that it was somehow my fault that I could not delete these objects even though I could move them around. They were plain old wooden pieces, not even anything fancy.

The interesting thing; since I could not get rid of them in any way, I just moved them off my land over Linden Land (hah take your ghosts back), and they got returned a while later. So it seems we just have ghosts of a different kind. It wasn't lag; connection was solid, I was otherwise operating/building normally.

I have also seen a couple of avatars ghost. The old flying-forever-in-place thing.

The ultimate test will be an hour in the Vorago. Typically, when three or so people play, after about 20ish minutes things start to ghost like crazy (like almost everything that autorezzes ghosts). I know you can largely fix this by turning over all your objects to an "owner alt" and just not logging on that alt (logging off whacks your ghosts and I have never logged on and found ghosts in the Vorago, leading me to beleive ghosting is directly related to your avatar's in-world state), but I'd prefer to not spend money on an alt for the sole purpose of not logging it on.

Stability seems to be varying drastically. I have NEVER had extensive problems with staying in world in SL, never ever (though like everybody else porting and attachments has caused me grief). Now I port fine but crash constantly. I also have two attachments that do not function correctly at all anymore; the scripts, which have always run perfectly (my flight belt, which I have been wearing since early beta) does some pretty whacky things now when I equip it (like turn sideways and expand...it's really weird).

There are also bugs related to selecting multiple objects and locking them. I reprod this yesterday; I selected a whole building, locked it, and all the transparent textures (and the light ones) lost their transparency and color (they appeared to take on the attributes of the root). So I had to redo the whole build's textures and lock them up in common groups (like all the windows, then all the floors, etc.).

Perhaps better, but not fixed, and as always, things to iron out.

And unfortunately, still ghosties :(

I wouldn't say ghosting is fixed either. 2 people in the same room as me logged and they were 'still there'. I didn't wait around to see how long but it was over 5 minutes.

I'm not sure the amount of prims is the relevant factor. In the past I've deleted thousands of prims and not seen a ghost, but sometimes I'll delete one and it'll ghost for apparently no reason at all.

Beleive me I want to see ghosting gone. Perhaps we don't have ghosts anymore...since they now seem to be more corporeal but equally brainless, perhaps we now have zombies.

I've seen a few ghosts, and my friends have seen many more... LL is getting dangerously close to the credibility level of a politician, when it comes to promises being made and kept!
