Well my free trial is over, and I'll be coming back ASAP if I have anything to say about it.
I probably won't be able to register untill sunday, maybe not even untill monday or tuesday. So you guys will have to be patient while waiting for me to return and plague Olive with my insane physics experiments, exploding and causing illusions and reversing gravity and stuff.
I'll be back.

Anyone else notice that trial users now say "resident" in their profile and have no apparent restrictions? What happened to the whole inflation fears and stuff?

I'm an independant professional video game programmer irl. I've been programming games since I was 5. Not only was I scripting already, but I'd dare to say I'm one of the best scripters on SL. You ain't seen nothing yet people. KYA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! I just hope my super big special project will be finished for Haloween.

No reason to start a peepee contest. I simply mean: I thought you are not allowed to script anything while on free trial

Since 5?!?!?!?! When I was five I was sucking my thumb (not really) but you must have a large attention span to get into that kind of thing that young. I'd see it and walk off when I was five. Anyways how did you script when you were in trial?

Well I've been "programming" since I was 8 so it isnt as unbelievable as you may think. I had programming classes in elementary school but by the time I took them I knew most of it already. Back in the day using a computer MEANT programming since the only interface it had was the programming language - more often than not BASIC. Since programming in BASIC is almost like talking to your computer in english, and my excellent elementary school also offered english classes (and french and guitar and cooking...) which I started taking from the age of 3... well you put two and two together. As for how a trial was scripting, the lindens unilaterally decided to remove all trial restrictions. They arent even labeled as trials anymore.

Am I still the only one who coded for a WordStar? Damn Anywho, I've been coding for a long time, probobly since I was 10 (1976, I'm old...) so I wouldn't think that would be too amazing considering the drag-n-drop kiddie progs they have out now... gah i hate those. But for your info guys, CC trial residents can do everything now

LOL -- I'll have to remember that phrase for later, Madox, haven't heard that version before.
Having hung out with people who learned to program computers in uni on punch cards, "real programming language" means actual assembly code to me. (I never got that hardcore, though.)
I don't think learning to program from a single-digit age is all that unusual in people who grew up with access to computers these days, though.

Geez if I couldn't script during my trial I might not have decided to keep playing.
Yep all those super neato keen things were built in my first five days of playing.
My program language of choice is C++ but when I was 5 I was programming in BASIC on a Commodore 64. I could also read when I was 2.
Anyway I didn't mean to start a urine projection competition, I thought you were questioning my programming abilities.
I don't have ADD but I wouldn't say I have abnormal focus.
Anywho I can program in C/C++ and RPG4, I used to know Basic but I haven't used it in ages. The LSL scripting language is a lot like C++ so my skills transfer directly. Plus I'm Canadian which makes me naturally better at everything. (just kidding!)

How ironic, and yes I like editing. Oh and as a side not, Relee, correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe that by "peepee" we were referring to the male reproductive organ, not the liquid human waste product.

I thought they were refering to how long you can shoot urine. Hee hee.
And just because I didn't mean to start a competition doesn't mean that I didn't start one!
Heh, for a moment I thought you were saying that my comment about reading at two was human excrement, I was almost angry! Good thing I figured it out.

No, reading at 2 is certainly not a human excriment.
That sentance there could be a little inside joke, couldn't it?

Mantastic! Uhh...yeah anywho... I'm pretty glad I didn't have any restrictions (other than RL time and hurricane...) during my free trial, I probably wouldn't have stayed either. Of course, I have no real programming experience to speak of, but I am starting to view RL objects as prims...that's a start, so I'm told. Relee>> Y'all come back now, 'hear?

The only thing I was interested in in SL was what I can do through scripting, so when I saw you can not script in trial I had to end the trial early and pay just to try out scripting

WAHHHHHHHH! I want back into SL now! But I have to wait at least one more day. I think I've figured out a way to make my engine achieve steady flight, and I can't implement it!

Apparently they've changed their trial user policy on scripting. I read in one place on the website that trial users couldn't script, but other places say they can. The registration help page at: Registration Help specifically says that trial account can do scripting. I'm glad that I get to do scripting as a trial user--now I'm hooked and I have to register! I do think it's a little strange that trial accounts show up as residents in their profile, though.
