Yes there has been a lot of inane banter, conjecture, suspicions and outright flame wars on the forums but honestly why do you post. Me, I'm at work. I do my job which being the semi-effecient individual I am I complete my tasks rather quickly. Thus, I have ample spare time to paruse and disgorge on the forums. So for the rest of you whats your reasonings I mean nothing too personal mind you just some simply stated honesty.. I have my picks of the day which typically involve either Alby or Wall Street but only because they take it in jest and move forward. But they give as good as they get and typically at times they do have some interestingly intelegent things to say when you least expect it. There are others of course but for the most part its more of a parusal of topics and commentary that illicits my attention. I try to stay within the confines of a few threads as not to confuse the masses in general. But thats just me rambling of course so I figured I would ask the lot of you, your perspective on it all. Simply, Shadow Weaver the Ancient with more A** than the forum has Teeth

At work. Fooled "the Man" into thinking I'm busy saving the company millions. Love the banter.

So appearantly, THIS is the official "bored at work" thread. Thats why read/post. One of these days I'm gunna save up some some $ and get another computer that can actaully run SL (I have about 15 functioning machines, but they are all old frankensteins), and set up my wireless at work, then I'll be able to actaully PLAY SL from work. But that prolly wont stop me from still reading the forums now that im hooked.

I used to never post or even read very much forum stuff. I started reading a little and at the time there was a bunch of anti-land baron stuff going around. I became tired of reading a bunch of stuff I did not agree with and I knew were not true about me. There were very few things positive being said about land-barons and it was being portrayed in a very negative light. So, I decided to speak up and defend those of us who sell land and that was how I began.
Then the political race began heating up and to no-ones surprise there was a bunch of anti-Bush stuff going around. Again, being in the minority, I spoke up in defense of the President. This was particularly challenging being that there are very few conservatives speaking up but I kind of enjoy the challenge.
I suppose at this point, I post as often as I do because there aren’t many other conservatives that take up the slack. Hopefully from time to time I give those with opposing views something to think about. I will say that it has been educational for me too. Sometimes during a debate my own views are challenged and I think it is healthy to listen to opposing points of view.
Anyhoo… here I am now… hooked on the mostly friendly debating that goes on about various topics. Some of you are very funny too and it is nice to break the day up with a smile.

I read the forums to find out if there's anything interesting happening in world that would be worth going to check out or getting involved in.
I post because I'm opinionated.

Same, bored at work. I usually don't post if I don't have a reason to post though.
Some of the things that make me post though are: 1. A subject I feel very strongly about. 2. I have a question, and I have looked for the answer and still can't find it. 3. If what I have to say will intelligently and constructively add to the topic / conversation at hand. 4. If I feel I have an observation that others haven't made or haven't explictly stated that I feel would be worthwhile in the topic / conversation (hand in hand with 3)
If it's not one of those four reasons I try not to post anything at all.

The main reason is to learn things. The things I learn improve my in-world experience.
To meet people or at least get to know them. I have a collection of pictures of me and various posters that I've met in-world.
Find out about new products. I've picked up some nifty stuff this way.
But mostly to appreciate my drama free lifestyle while marveling at some of the hassles some posters put them selves through or have thrust upon them.
And it's free!

I'm a forum feind. If I am interested in something and there's an accessible forum, I'll be sure to put in my two cents.
I like SL, although I don't get to log as often as I like at the moment. I'm too busy working on my 1st life (if anyone is hiring for a techie in Dallas, or could use some PC help online lemme know). So I stay active on the forums to get a sense of what's up.
Also, there are some decent people on this forum. Even if they do consider me an outsider. I come from F'd Company, and am a veteran of messageboarding. I find the constant pedantic whining of some of the more active members amusing.

I'm a stay-at-home mom who spends a good portion of my weekdays attending to my kids' needs and ferrying them to and from school and activities. When I get some free time, I sit down at the computer and open Photoshop to work on SL projects. When I get to the point that I'm bored, frustrated or uninspired by a current project, I open forums. As others have said, I learn a lot about what's going on in-game on forums. I also religiously read the Announcements forum to find out about updates, Linden events, and other news items. I post when I feel I can add something useful (or at least vaguely amusing) to a thread; I rarely start threads. And, I have learned to avoid, for the most part, the humongous, long-winded, ranting threads that often seem to dominate the General forum. I've learned that my Second Life is too short to get too worked up about stuff. I try to avoid taking jabs at people... well, except for Lordfly, and then usually only if he's corrected somebody's grammar or spelling and then made a grammatical or spelling error himself somewhere in the thread. But he knows I like him anyway.
