I have to “not agree” with anyone. Being tech savvy, I know that even if a virus gets on your machine, it’s going to have to create a thread before it can do anything. Virus protection can freak you out with all the flashy windows, warning noises and exclamation marks. So it’s best to just let people make the mistake for themselves. You are more likely to cause a large number of people to freak out than protect a network from infection.

Kex is 100% right in his argument but equally wrong in the way he wrote it down. When you say ignorant to anyone you have reason to believe is ignorant, they will assume the word “stupid”. Not realizing that they would automatically assume that ignorant means stupid displays ignorance. We are all ignorant of something. I’m ignorant of 80x86 machine language and even simple stuff like gardening and auto repair.

The idea is ignorance = unknowing and that people almost never see it that way. Simply choose better words unless you aim to grief someone to make yourself feel better or kill boredom. Of which I won’t accuse Kex of because he’s always seemed a proper person. I think it was just something he feels strongly about and he voiced his opinion a bit harsh because it was important to him.

Trojan horses, backdoors, keyloggers, dialers, worms, viruses all fall under the term virus in general usage. ... How are you so certain that Holy Grace's intent was innocent?

Don't forget that companies use" viral marketing" to "infect" you with "spyware". So really what can't be considered a virus that isn't placed on your computer without your consent? It's all mis-information and that breeds ignorance even for the informed. So yes... Kex made the argument wrong. Everyone who reads the forums should know by now if you make any kinda un-thoughtful, rude or just plain mean comments that Cris is gonna jump in on it. ;)

Lets try not to egg each other on as much. Phil is very right, all the bickering is going to create a nasty aura in Second Life. It's really good to debate but when you forget others feelings your going to start conflict.

My guess is that they just assumed that most of the people here were mature adults, but some of us are questioning that assumption!

In hindsight it's easy to say the change caused alot of uh...you know. But LL can't read the future...

But this is Earth, 3rd rock from the sun not sparkley-happy-wappy-pixie-wixie land. If we were all mature adults someone would complain about it anyway... :-D

Also... WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS THREAD DOING IN THIS FORUM?
