LMAO Friends online link now gone

I guess so all those of us who can't get in won't know who did get in lol. And I can't get in with the "new" update. Get the in queue message, then the preparing inventory, fetching inventory and finally to contacting user server. Then bammmmmmmmmmm back to log in screen. Oh well, guess I'll call it a night soon.

It'd be sad if it was taken away, its been there since what... 1.0 at the least?

Oh, and what we're talking about here is, when you go to Account Settings or Login or whatever the hell button it is in the uppr right corner of the front page, it usualy displays on the first page online buddies, inbetween the land sales and the last sold items.

Yeah. I'd be pretty pissed off if this has gone. It was often a determining factor as to whether I logged on or not.

In fact, with it gone, I might just assume no one I know is about and just not log on. So hmmph.

I'd kinda hope they're upgrading it, or something. Maybe with that 'message people inworld' from it function we keep asking for

I miss this already, and see no reason why it was removed?

Better still, in the future, would not only be the return of that list, but the ability to click on a name -- or type the name manually if you don't have their CC -- and send them an IM inworld if need be. Could be done simply and cleanly and facilitate little bits o' communication.

i think the update puts you in the queue. i opt out for it for speedy logins. i've had no problems logging in tonight.

wow this is terrible. My calling cards dont work(no one ever shows online in world. Just in the website here) so now I have NO idea who is online.

U get put in the queue regardless, The issue was people were "End Task"ing when it looked like sl had stoped at prepairing invatory, and theres kind of a ttl thing going on there filling up the login queue, .
Lets say the ttl is 5 minuts. U try to log in, the queue is already 2 minuts long, U end task, Now u just added another 5 minute wait to the queue.

The update was just to try to get users to stop hitting "End Task".

Not in my experience. It has been taking me half an hour or so to get in, and it doesnt go non responsive, and I certainly wouldnt end the task. And this has been the same for other people I've talked to with login issues.

The brand new 22mb 'update' just changed the line of text (that you could have changed yourself) to reflect that you were in a queue. Nothing else was changed or fixed.

If that is actually making any difference to anyone in any way at all, then frankly I feel sorry for them.

The update was a ridiculous waste of time. Especially given that there will be another tomorrow. Possibly two. Then prolly one Friday to patch that. Then a few more to fix that at the weekend...etc

Well I could try to guess again and ide say that your probably just getting hit with all the other lame end-taskers then.

although same ole story, buncha people can log in fine and a buncha people cant.
Perhaps you could post some information, like What type of connection do you have?

actually that would be a good idea, Have everyone who has more than tolarable issues with loging in, post as much info as they can in a thred so maby we as a comunaty can come up with some answers.

the auction search option has been missing since the site update. i don't know if that was intentional or not.

They left the "Last 10 items sold or exchanged inworld", which is totally useless IMHO, and took off the Friends Online box, one of the first things I eagered to know when logging on to the forums.. even more now that logging in is such a pain.

I have to believe this 0that they will bring it back and bring it back better. I am staring here at work reading this in horrible Shock.LOL
I do hope its t update a click to Email IM. I love it Causeits web based and not a seperate buddy program like the ones I CAN NOT run from work.

Has anyone thought they might have disabled it because it's a load on the database server? I dunno, maybe it's not... but if I were them, I'd be shutting down things like that that poll the servers continually to help with the current problems.

Course, I'd take out the last 10 items too, but that's me.

As was posted earlier today in this thread (/120/90/31900/1.html), the portion of the web site that contained the "Friends Online" feature has been temporarily disabled, but we do plan on returning this feature shortly. I will be sure to let you all know when this feature is turned back on. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
