Signed up for the free trial. Not too sure what exactly you do in the game as it is still downloading. Any tips or hints would be appreciated. I choose the name Shay Neva, should be able to log in soon.

Welcome :)

If you need help, ask someone with a mentor title, or the last name Linden.

And stay away from the sheep!

NJ native I take it? I am too ... and yes, it's pitiful that Kerry took NJ since NJ already screwed up their Governor choice .... glad I'm in Arizona now :p

Hi Blake. I'm sure I'll be asking a ton of questions on how to get started. I've only played fighting/killing mmorpgs before, nothing like this.

Hello :)

Hi there & welcome to Second Life :)

a great source of help & useful information is LIVE HELP. From the top of your second life screen HELP...LIVEHELP.

It's a group mainly consisting of Experienced Second life residents but also Lindens lurk there. & as others have suggested looking for people with HELPER, MENTOR, in thir title or the last name Linden.

Also check the event calendar for mentoring (events geared toward new residents) & classes :)

:D

Nevermind Blake and his "platinum", it's an.. um.. body part. He just gets a bit excited.

I would advise you to attend events, and get to know people in your first days. Explore the world!

Welcome to SL Shay!! :) As others have stated, once you are in world Mentors and Live Help people will be able to help you with many things. Don't be afraid to ask questions! There are so many things to do and see in SL so feel free to take things slowly. Also, here are a couple of sites that are great for getting to know more about SL. Enjoy yourself and hope to see you in world sometime! :D

SLUniverse.com SL Knowledgebase (variety of tips and how to information)
http://www.sluniverse.com/kb/

SL History Wiki (project that documents the history of SL)
http://www.profnano.org/sl

EDIT: Hmm.. the LSL Wiki page (for scripting info) is down. Anyone know if there is a new link that I missed?

Welcome, to SL Shay. The best advice I can think of to give on what to do in SL is to just explore it as much as possible. It does not have some scripted path where you jump in and start slaying rats to level up. It really is what you make of it. It can be overwhelming at first, but there are many people who will help if you just ask. Obviously, if you are posting in a forum as a trial user, you aren't as shy as the usual new player. Good luck :)

lol, Well, that's something new!

It seems pretty overwhelming already, and I haven't even played. Just read a couple sites.

If you need any help you can always IM me.

Or if you need help with creating your avatar....or if you're looking for clothing or hair attachments for your avie's looks.

I know all the right places to get all that stuff.
