Out of commission

It seems my gaming machine has suddenly become ill and I can't get it to boot. I have a sneaking suspicion that my graphics card has bitten the dust or is suffering some overheating issues and will need to be replaced (which is a real drag because it's a very nice quadro4 card *cry*). I'm hoping that's all it is. I'll know more tomorrow when I have time to swap some cards around.

The long and short is that I can't get in world at the moment. Best case sceneario is I'll be back in business tomorrow. Worst case is I'll need to replace my gaming rig and may be out for several days.

To anyone who was waiting for me to do something for them, my apologies for the delay! I'll be back in world as soon as I'm able.

I feel your pain, over the christmas period, my gaming rig decided it wasn't going to boot, no beeps, display or anything. thought at first I'd fried my motherboard (it stopped working after moving it), so replaced that, worked fine for 2 days then the same problems started to appear after a bit of investigation and thinking about it, I reasoned it must be the PSU, one new powersupply later ..... and now all is fine (fingers crossed)

Download Sisoft's Sandra ... It will give you all the info you need on your machine...it will even run acurate temp checks on the vid card and cpu.

That's awful. Dang Chip, now I know why you had to keep replying from offline. Awww. I hope you get the problems solved soon and with a minimum of hassle... arghhh! *hugz*

2. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning
3. See a "RL" movie or something... (Heaven forbid)

Thanks everyone It'll almost boot. I can get as far as the windows login screen, but the graphics are all corrupted. When I log in it reboots itself so my guess is the vid card is fried. After being off all night it's still the same. Second card it's eaten actually ;P It's an HP with crappy ventilation. I was going to retire it to just being a shoutcast server anyway so this just means I'll be doing it a bit sooner hehe.

Not to mention it is used in a cigarette smoke filled room. See, second hand smoke is harmful!

hehe. The smoke is much worse for the drives than for the cards, unless the fan on the quadro siezed from being caked in cat hair and tar

It was a few years old and the computer it was in was retired due to a crappy motherboard. After two years of parity errors and corrupted files I just gutted it for parts. Too much bad karma. Never ever buy a rev A motherboard

I wish I need that kind of horsepower for my real life work. It'll end up getting replaced with a $100 card.
