Why hasn't anyone been "evil" in SL?

Ok, one of the things that fascinates me about SL is watching people's behaviors. I love people watching.

It just dawned on me, though, that there really aren't any ne'er-do-wells.

Let me explain this a bit first

Ok, so we have griefers, and annoying little kids, and abusive trial residents. These aren't really villains, though. Those are like... petty thieves and pickpockets.

Where's the evil megacorporation?

Where's the sinister plan to blot out the sun?

Where's the meglomaniac bent on world-wide domination?

Basically, where are the villains? Operating within the TOS, but bent on a sinister goal just the same

Where ARE you guys?

I seemed to remember a couple dozen people picketing at my companies headquarters a while back. (Which again, I had to find to be the best way to protest opposed to the complain to Lindens method, it's a game afterall) At least they had the perception we were evil or something.

The problem I can see with someone being evil is they will get abuse reports and thus probably banned. Heck, seems if you do something that a few people don't like, they can blow it out of proportion, even if the original attend did not have any horid purpose. I mean, if I can get a abuse report when I was not even logged in for quite some time, I don't think a truely "evil doer" would last long.

I don't think you'd get banned for "acting evil" as long as it's in a funny/entertaining way that doesn't bother others (key).

LF, look up Ezhar in game...if that dude doesn't look evil, who does?

Then that is not evil, that is comic relief.:

There aren't really evil people in the game because this isn't that kind of rpg. If you want evil go over to Newbieville (http://www.nexustk.com, they have been infested with newbies).

Heh, well that's the only form of evil that's welcome in SL, I think.

I don't want to see people--

"Morally bad or wrong; wicked: an evil tyrant."

or

"Causing ruin, injury, or pain."

etc...

If you're not "acting" in some way and doing some sort of "play evil", then it seems to me that it's a form of player griefing. SL isn't an RPG...

Go read Ama's post, it sums up the "evil person" situation up rather nicely.

However, in reality, our casinos are fair, so don't suddenly think our evilness lies in that we cheat money out of you.

I actually have an "evil businessman casino owner" avatar that I use and people, apparently, seem to find attractive. His role is played in the Nexcorp group in the Gibson sim, his evil role being that of a drug trafficker.

So if you really want an evil person, yes, I am one of them, but only on occasion

I still wouldn't call SL an RPG, nobody really "acts" (aka roleplays) in SL. Well maybe in Darkwood. But we are just ourselves, er most of us.

Dave's examples are the only kind of evil I can really imagine in SL, either just for show (basically, fun) or maybe the occassional times that SL does become an "RPG".

Ok I'm boring myself with my own post...imagine that...need to increase frequency of bad jokes....

There are 2 definations of evil .

1. Is the Playful type that you described above .

2. The other is the snotty griefing Lying, Backstabbing ,annoying and Idiotic ones that Should be banned for violating the CS and TOS .


People have done horrible things here from recruting newbies to do there dirty work to backstabbing and lying behind others back. Running spamming And griefing scripts and just seeing how misrible they can make someones second life . I Hope this isnt what you are talking about .

Wouldn't it be neat if there was a Sim or two devoted to a game of "evil domination". In those Sims, the "evils" would compete to rule the land and detroy their competion. Perhaps it could even recycle every 3 months or so to give enough time to put the plays into action, but then allow others a shot at total domination.

Ohh.. I like that idea! hehe

..Ah, but you see, the only true evil is one that you never see, but rather see the effects.

And finally my plan is complete and as it is a rule with all evil characters I must now lay out my entire vision for you!

YES! It was I who suggested and pushed for Dwell. It was I who invented the first billboard and press the idea through my secret, underground cult of The Annoying Billboard. And, YES! It was I who created the tax system, twisting and changing it to the point that no one will ever understand it's evil intricucies.

Way back in early May, I was contracting for SL Media to set up some hardware for a network. This competed with the network already established at SL Media's home simulator, Kissling.

Frickin' SPIES were always hanging around whenever I'd meet with them. Not just in Kissling, either. They actually hid behind trees in De Haro, back when I was based outta there. I ess you not.

This was not "evil" but at the time I was still fairly new and found it absolutely fascinating.

I'm not really evil just nuts.


I only have one negative rating, from Angel Leviathan, who told me that she thinks I'm a trouble maker, and then muted me.
