Best Locations for Modelling Shoots?

I'm thinking of taking some friends to a location and doing a RL-like model shoot for the new line of clothing I'm planning. I've seen the tropical beach/mountain slope sessions they show on E! channel sometimes, and I thought that would make a fun way to easily snap pics of my models wearing the items without going into a lot of post-prep Photoshop work. And unlike most RL model shoots, my models will get to keep the clothing to avoid my own inventory clutter :)

I know of one spot that is a mountain pool, very idyllic. And it has some casual poseballs on hand for convenience (I've been picking up a collection of my own modelling pose balls as I find them, too).

I'd love to find other sites like that. Some of my clothing will be sexy, but using sexballs is out of the question for this. I'm going into the clothing business, not porn :)

I've also considered the idea that, if this business takes off, I'd love to offer $L pay for models as needed. I know there are a lot of players out there who have a tough time making a go of it dancing/escorting, and it'd be nice to offer them a way to suplement their income doing something other than avie sex.

Any ideas on good locations I could use as backdrops? Any other random thoughts on the issue? What ethics are involved in using someone else's location for a shoot, other than getting their permission in IM?

Create your own location by using photo backdrops. This is how some of the best modeling shots in SL are done.

Sorry cant to little about locations so far... Dreamland has a lot of interesting views for photographing without an ugly mall behind..

Different styles on every sim... Search for Victoria, Oslo then you will find al sims in that part of Sl.. from dessert to islands to snow..

Cindy,
I have been photo taking in SL for longggg time, and I found that using local lighting, good angles and really great backdrops ive uploaded myself are the best way. If your really Good at it, with practice, it is very nice looking, and you will receive the business you need, without PHOTOSHOP!
Im sorry IM a touch up nay sayer, lol. I feel if the pic is done right to begin with should be no psp added except for maybe wording etc.
As far as using others spots, if you find a spot, no there really is no protocol, except an IM of courtesy. I cant think of ANY sim owner that would say NO WE DONT WANT YOUR DWELL EWWW!
I know of many GREAT photo shoot spots in SL, and have used some, if you would like to contact me in world, id be happy to pass you some landmarks :-)
Ciao!

Briana has the best suggestion, but if you are really wanting to use "live" locations, maybe one place to start looking is in the thread here in the General section that is titled: "Islands which are your favorites? " /120/a8/47253/1.html

Or do a search in the forums for "favorites" and see if you can't find some more unique locations.

As for "What ethics are involved in using someone else's location for a shoot, other than getting their permission in IM", I would say respect whether the SIM is PG or Mature. Make sure that you get a confirmed date and time to use the property (the owner could have other events to do), and most of all be sure to clean up after yourself. All of these things I'm sure you had thought of though! :)

I have a modeling group I'll be using in a similar fashion soon, so I have had these thoughts on my mind as well. Best of luck to you! :)

I've used those backdrops in some of my old Poser artwork. Now why didn't it occur to me here? :) Maybe I really am seeing SL in real-world terms too much. A simple TGA upload, build a quick and dirty prim, and presto -- instant location. Take that, E! channel! :)

Thank you, Stacy. I'm a klutz with PS and PSP, and while I can probably manipulate transparencies and textures adequately, I absolutely hate detailed pixel manipulation :(

Ciao!

Thanks, I'll do that! But I may try the idea of a backdrop first just to see how it looks -- hnmm, now where'd I put that cool beach scene? :)

Petgirl - great link, thank you!

Thanks, Pendari (and all of you!). I was even thinking of creating my own store calendar I could give away, with swimsuit shots of attractive models. Script it to change months with a "touch", put my store on the bottom, and presto -- instant advertising :)

- Cayman island has very pretty areas
- Freelon has a nice cave and other great areas for pics (thanks to Chip "sweatshop master" Midnight) :D
- Midnight City can give you some fantastic city shots from the rooftops.
- The Wildnerness

Hmm, can't think of where else with the grid down.

Hypatia has a large lake, a beach, trees, wooden bridge over river, tall cliff, huge waterfall, secluded cove...

Ideal model shoot location.

Thank you, Briana and Surina. That's exactly what I had in mind!

Thinking this over, I'm inclined to use a combination of methods. I'm an old-school roleplayer, so having to physically go to a site and do the shoot in-game has its appeal to me. But as an aspiring business person and an amateur graphics artist, so does the background texture idea :)

I imagine that I'll find plentiful opportunities for both approaches - thanks again for the input!

hehe, thanks Briana :) If anyone wants to shoot pics on my land in Freelon please feel free. No need to ask me (but if you see any people chained to sewing machines trying to make for the border please let me know).
