Congratulations Linden Labs for creating dissention among the community. "Divide and conquer" is a method used by ruthless corporations and conservative governments. You have successfully empowered the money advocates, provided avenues of outside money influence and destroyed what made SL inviting in the first place. In what was a diverse environment for creativity, now is belittled to a name-calling forum of dissent.

I guess you weren't around when the 1.2 changes were announced. We've been here before. We'll no doubt be here again. True, I wasn't, but dividing the community can't be good way to fix the economy. _____________________

The users took it upon themselves to assume the worst with incorrect information and propogate it. Don't blame them. |

True, I wasn't, but dividing the community can't be good way to fix the economy. As Juro already well pointed out, no one is "dividing" cummunity. However, if you really want to draw party lines here, as I see it there are currently 3 camps. These are: 1. The doomsayers, who couldn't be more pleased (whethere they realize it or not) that they now have something new to ever more loudly bitch about. The fact that economics thend to frighten and confuse most people is adding tremendous fuel to these people's fires. 2. The defenders, who are trying desperately to stamp the afore mentioned fires out. The problem is doomsayers will never listen to defense and vise versa, so all both sides end up acheiving is a loud and abnoxious stalemate of speculation, conjecture, and ignorance. 3. The rest of us, who accept that change is the only constant in the universe, who understand that the inflationary problems the Lindens are trying to curb were inevitable and that there is no way to solve them without rustling some feathers, and who are patiently waiting to see what the zealots are gonna find to argue about next once this all blows over (which it will). It's important to note that none of these 3 groups include Linden Labs staff. All three are comprised 100% of community members who made up their own minds how to think and behave. The only "rift" that exists is the one that was created by and between the relatively few people who found the need to so passionately argue their fears here. These "divide and conquer" consipracy theories aimed at LL would undoubtedly make me sick if they didn't make me laugh so hard. Exactly how it has become so popular of late to see evil-doers everywhere amongst the ranks of LL is beyond me. Maybe it's just a sign of the times. (4 more years of W has us all on edge I guess.) _____________________

In all honesty, I welcome reforms to event sponsoring and bonuses. The LL methods employed here are kneejerk and disconcerting. Mess with peoples paychecks, you might expect revolt.

It would be very interesting to find out exactly how many $9.95/$15.00 per month accounts LL has, and how this will affect the "social" groups -- those that come to SL to socialize, purchase, etc., without truly enjoying the building aspect of this.
I believe SL now has a high-social population, and if they should leave because of the cuts in their weekly pay, how will this affect the sellers of merchandise? _____________________

Then they do come here and see proponents of the Linden proposals saying "leave". How can that be good? First, that's thier own fault if they didn't read the information the Lindens distributed and relied on assumptions. Second, don't lump all of the proponents of the Lindens into that one group. There are plenty who support thier decisions and are not telling people to leave. As far as I've read, there was only one. |
