But why does it lead me to microsoft.com? Is there a sort of sign?

There's an additional http// (without the colon...), so the default search page comes out, looking for "http". Odd, that makes www.microsoft.com come out first...

The correct link is : http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

btw, i seem to be a liberal, personal issues score is 80%, economic issues score is 40%

(Don't say a word about my economic score, rinaz... i am sure that it isn't an evaluation, just a way to count the responses... :p )

According to that pro-libertarian site and its biased test, most people are libertarians - 35%.
I'm a Libertarian too. Except I don't see anything wrong with an ID card, since we have had them forever in Portugal.

Cut taxes and government spending by 50% or more

It is odd that they still consider this a conservative ideal. I would agree that once it was but that is an antiquated view in my opinion.

On a test with so few questions, I consider this a glaring error.

Guess why i scored only 80% on personal issues...

Btw, am i liberal rather than libertarian because i am poor at economy? I don't think that welfare is such a bad thing... and in some cases, even a bit of corporate welfare... retirement too should be granted... well, you all know that welfare requires some money, so i can't totally agree on that taxes cutting...

Personal : 100%
Economic : 40%

This result doesn't surprise me. I've always liked the Libertarians positions on individual issues, but I've never been able to support them at the ballot box because of their laissez faire approach to business.

I'm of the opinion that if big business was given free rein, they would stomp on their workers, pollute the environment, conspire to fix prices, and generally do whatever they can to make a buck.

A similar and perhaps(?) less biased "test" can be found here: www.politicalcompass.org/ It's hardly short, though!

On the "world's smallest" I get 90/40, while on the above it's closer to 75/80 ;)

EDIT: Whoops, flip-flopped scales for the second, and just noticed that the Compass is already linked to.

According to this new test, i came out a bit more libertarian (i think it would be like an 80/50 rather than 80/40 on the first compass, making me be a centrist on the edge between liberal and libertarian).

EDIT: I noticed that i am in the opposite area of almost all the countries leaders... is there any meaning? (maybe that's why i am not a leader of any country? :D)

Anyway, i am happy to be in a good company: Gandhi, Mandela and the Dalai Lama...

Did anyone notice that in the first compass, personal and economic scales form a 45 degrees angle with the statist/libertarian and left/right axis, while in the second compass the economic scale IS on the left/right axis and the social scale IS on the libertarian/authoritarian axis?
How did it come that i am almost in the same position on both the compasses?

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 50%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 80%.

Too simplistic and American biased, but I basically agree with my result.

Some books on the topic of the principles governing the distribution of wealth
04-09-2005 19:33
Two major works of political philosophy offer contrasting views of fundamental moral tenets that underlie one's political and economic views. One is by John Rawls, a prominent writer and academic who held assorted high positions at a number of major educational establishments such as Oxford, MIT, Harvard, and Cornell. The book is titled A Theory of Justice

If my understanding is correct, Rawls believes that goods should be distibuted in a most probably unequal manner so as to maximize the wellbeing of the least well off.

The second book to look at won the 1975 National Book Award for it's author, philosopher and and Harvard University Professor Robert Nozick. The books title is Anarchy, State, and Utopia

Nozicks works see humans as ends in themselves and justifies redistribution of goods only on condition of consent.

I believe that it is government interference that protects big business from labor and consumers, much more than the other way around. Without this protection, consumer skepticism, deflation and labor shortages would grind big business into the ground. As it is, the major firms in the US that aren't massively subsidized or relatively new companies are dying, unable to turn consistent profits, kept on life support by the Federal Reserve.
So while they might want to do all of those things Ace was talking about, they can only get away with it as long as the financial and legal system protects them.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 100%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 100%.

On this test I am 100/100. The problem is it is to small. When taking a more comprehensive test I end up more the 80s. The reason why is the questions here are to simple. I am still a Libertarian. I have a problem with the government EVER telling me what I am to do. I DO believe in helping the poor but not with government that has a 70% or more over head. Give me a privet group that can have as low as 10% over head. Also allows me to say were my money goes. I live in IL why do I want to help out people in NY when there are people living next to me that needs the help.
