How rude is too rude?

A champion of free speech and the right to bear dirty laundry, ridicule and opinion, I am not one to wish censorship on anyone in sl or any world. But at some point don't we end up cutting off our pixelated nostrils to spite our prim nose ring.

It is one thing to go off on a rant or disagree with an opinion, but gossipy "your a doody head" posts only end up alienating us to the point where that cereal box we preach on is filled with nothing but stale, fatty curse filled ire with no substance what so ever. Most new comers to a neighborhood would rather move on than be a part of a world so consumed with hate riddled propoganda and spin doctoring of situations that in the end do not come close to resembling the original circumstances.

Granted, I have read some posts (mostly in the off topic section) where the majority keeps a clear head and actually tries to work out problems or at least formulate some cohesive groundwork towards understanding. These are not the norm though. What image do the potentates of slander and innuendo wish to project to those who wander unknowingly into these threads. Is it hostility and lack of compassion? Is it some secret and divinely appropriated superiority over the minions of newbies and casual users?

Just a bunch of rhetoric I guess. Not directed at anyone in particular only musing about the general stench of animosity and the ease at which we bestow the gifts of hostility and snideness.

Hmmm... good points.. although my posts do tend to favor the 'brown' side, I like to think that my nonchalant, and oft assinine ramblings actually bring more of a positive thing to the forums..

I like to think of myself as the 'voice of silly' - 9 posts out of 10 serve no purpose other than to make someone else laugh..

Others may disagree, but they're stupid doody-heads, so they don't count.

I happen to think "doody head" is a compliment, along with "asshat"...but that's just me

For all the hubbub about these type of posts I offer up....we're family and family call eachother doody heads and asshats.....occasionally there are jabs, innuendo, gossip, outriright nastiness, and of course outings. The reason for this is simple....everyone that comes here has a passion for SL and we see it in our own unique ways. Being human beings we struggle to keep our cool sometimes when someone has tread on our Sl.

I've met most of the people in the forums in world and I can honestly say they are great folks....I may disagree with them or call them an asshat but who doesn't have that retarded uncle that you just hate to love. Good or bad I don't think I would appreciate SL as much as I do without the forums and the drama they sometimes bring.

I understand why. The need to feel superior is as intrinsic to us bipedal's as the need to screw which is also sometimes attributed to a need to feel superior. We like pushing each others buttons and testing each other's intestinal fortitude. I suppose that I was just asking how far is too far...is it ok to gang up and corner an individual untill they either run or claw back...is it ok to stick steel toe in the rear of someone for not jumping on the LL love train...I'll stop to look at a train wreck as quickly as the next person...but I try not to cause them and I sure as hell don't run over to piss on the passengers in their time of distress. Maybe it is just the human condition. I suppose life would not be as fun if we didn't call each other asshats and doody heads. Or if we stopped to consider the bigger picture once in a while instead of assuming that we are all knowing.

Ahh now I am sounding like a whiney preaching asshat...on with the gossiping doody head declaring posts lol...i should just drink more beer.

There's precious little drama going on these days. It used to be a lot worse a few months ago. The whole forum thing seems kinda dead lately...

I follow a simple rule lately, If I say it and it will directly offend I rethink what I am going to say. If it gets to the point I can't say anything nice anymore then I just dont respond. If its to the point of the subject being moot then I let it ride.

To many instances of peoples self imposed importance pop up on the forums. Thus I try not to elevate nor make my self beneath anyone as to stooping or tippytoeing to someone elses level. That is ludicris in itself.

So in essence this is why no one hears from me anymore much. I make my clothes sell my ships and tinker with my toys and I am happy.

Plus no one listens to my banter anymore anyway.
