http://secondthoughts.typepad.com/second_thoughts/2005/08/what_hiro_erase.htmlI'd like to thank all the people who have made this possible ... the FIC, Linden Lab for making SL ... and especially pie and cheese, without whom I'd never have this honor.

I think the REAL public enemy is Anshe Chung, so many land barons try to go against her, and it's just futile to.

From: nimrod Yaffle I think the REAL public enemy is Anshe Chung, so many land barons try to go against her, and it's just futile to. Okay, once and for all, my thoughts on Anshe: Anshe had cultural differences when she started SL. I've seen her grow a WHOLE lot in the year I've known about her. Her business practices have greatly improved and she's involved in numerous community based efforts - building contests, etc. She's a shrewd businesswoman, but she's honestly a decent person. I once had a problem with her, and once I got past the cultural difference, she understood, and made right. And, she takes 99% of the heat for land baroning. There are lots of other land barons out there, sitting chumly while Anshe absorbs all the negativity directed at land barrony in general.

My favorite part of the whole article: "You can then crash the 1st RL SL Confo and try to drink up all the beer and get all the babes at all the bar and parties before Flipper and Maxx get to them"

From: Jonquille Noir Why do people actually read that moron's crap? I'm not sure I get why any real weight is given his opinions, read or not. Hiro - whay are you concerned enough about his little (ok, not so little, he's prolific if nothing else) tirade to post here about it, anyway?

You know people can say whatever they want about Prokofy but Prokofy is a gifted writer. Prokofy's content I don't always agree with although most of the time there is always a grain of truth even if I don't agree with it in that light. Prokofy has a gift of painting very vivid pictures with words, that few writers have. This is my favorite part.... From: someone Second Life has really performed a sterling economic feat that teh RL could never manage without major embarrassment: bringing together scores of bored middle-aged American soccer moms working part-time at Walmart, along with European ladies up late after their second shift at the pub, who run fantasy escort services in SL, with scores of American and Asian boys home from school early sitting at the computer terminal instead of running on the soccer field, for hot, fabulous cybersex. Marvelous!

From: Eboni Khan ...Prokofy is a gifted writer... Had a good laugh at this. Prokofy makes more writing mistakes than a first year college student in the remedial writing program. He's overly verbose and fails to use anything remotely resembling a rational argument. As far as I can tell, Prokofy relies on impessing illiterates with big words, whether or not they're used correctly.

This is my fave:
"As Pathfinder might ask in his best Mr. Rogers voice, why are you labeling people, Prok? Why, Pathfinder, I'm learning to label people from your fabu book Snowcrash!"
So, where did all the venomous labeling come from before he started reading Snowcrash?
Pettiness. Envy. Greed. Paranoia. Rage.
What a wonderful way to go through life.

........ I lost interest after the first few paragraphs. I'll wait for him to, say, finish the damn book first.
Or I'll just send my pack of hypersonic cybernetic canines after him. Granted they're still in the early development stage, at the moment I have an afgan hound with a wireless router strapped on, and it doesn't take commands well, but we're getting there.

As far as I can tell, Prokofy relies on impessing illiterates with big words, whether or not they're used correctly. Yep. This is probably at least part of the reason he was so freaked out about Cabinhead. Perhaps he regards new players as some sort of flock from which to cull impressionable newbies ripe for the picking. Cabinhead was threatening for that reason. It was a two-fold threat. Loss of renters, and loss of people to try and indoctrinate. Thank the stars newbies are not so impressionable. He wanted to change SL at any cost, and he has. Imagine for a moment, the forums and SL if he had never come along. There wouldn't have been nearly a year of this useless fighting. Nothing has been solved. We are exactly where we were - actually - worse. A handful of people making endless claims that cannot be proven. Because they can never offer anything but insinuations and shadowy, unsubstantiated claims, we are treated to a diversionary cat and mouse game. Red herring season, only it lasts all year. "Well, you you think you're FIC.." Blah flippity blah. "FIC is not an insult". And these insipid, non-sequitur arguments ensue, ad infintum, ad nauseum. This loser will eventually eliminate himself completely. He can't help himself. Infinite loop.

If you'd really like to see what Prok thinks about all the 'little people' who support him, pop me an IM sometime. I have the most amazing chat log that, well, let's just say it provides an interesting look at just how "noble and community-minded" Prok really is... (chuckle).
As for the link, didn't bother. The verbosity of borderline personalities is well documented as a trait and frankly, boring after the first encounter.

Cubey is right about this. He violates every thing that is holy about proper diction. He would make a great moody thesaurus though!
