I dont see what all the big fuss is about the war. IMHO you shouldnt need a big fancy reason to go to war.
Wars used to be started for one heck of a lot less than this. Say, because they were the "infidels", or because you wanted some more land.
The worse thing about democracy is that it empowers people to become insufferable whiners. More people died in car crashes than in the war against iraq, but you dont see anyone questioning the president about whats being done to prevent further car crashes.
Saddam was an evil dictator who rose to power through murder and stayed in power through murder. No one should need an excuse to get rid of him, in fact I think it should be god damn MANDATORY for the UN to remove people like him from the face of the earth.
We were under a fascist dictatorship from May 26th 1926 to April 25th 1974, and I'm sure we would be far better off now if you americans had helped us get rid of it sooner than we were able to overthrow it ourselves.

*sarcasm* Oh Eggeh, you know that when it comes to dictators that the US is a bit...selective...

And, because Bush would never do this, I apologize for my country's negligence in helping you overthrow your dictator.

There is definately waste in the military. And Congress is responsible for much if it. The pentagon has often tried to close down unneeded bases, and been forced to keep them open. And congress has FORCED the Pentagon to purchase weapons systems and things like aircraft carriers that it didn't need or want. Often because individual senators or reps work to protect their own districts then the nation as a whole.
I like to remind people of this every once in a while:

A bi-partisan committee in congress (called the "Base Closing Commission" I believe) actually decided which bases to close during the first Bush administration. It was a "Done Deal", but some powerful members of congress were able to save their local bases.

Still, in the 90's some of these base closings actually took place along with a reduction in the number of troops in uniform.

Clinton frequently takes credit for "reducing the size of government" during his administration and this is what he is referring to. It's really rather pathetic.

Now if someone, of either party will just form a "Federal Department Closing Commission" we will be well on our way back to balanced budgets, and I don't care who takes credit for it.

Given the news that will probably be hitting the headlines tomorrow it would really be ironic if Kerry picks Hillary for his VP. I think I'll have to go into hibernation for 4 years to avoid a nervous breakdown. The ME generation has taken over.

If you mean about Kerry being caught red-handed with a 22 year old "model" who was dropping off a resume at his house in the middle of the night while his wif was out of town, yes, that ought to hit the evening news. It's very hot on talk radio at the moment. You have to wonder what was going through his head, thinking there was nobody keeping an eye on him.

The same thing that goes through all of our heads, but we'd better save that for one of those new "M" SIMS :)
