Thanks for clearing that up, I also used a friends account to check the billing amount against peak land usage.

Yes Princess, Mole and Tiger -- it's good to hear that's how it works.
And Tiger's plan to call support... my lips are sealed! _____________________

b) Call up innocently and ask why you are over your tier? You don't own that much land and never did. Ask them to check what parcels you owned at your peak. See if they can find the land they claim you owned. DON'T tell them the whole story. They're in Customer Service... They've heard all the sob stories there are. Let THEM find the story on their own, and in the process, either give up and give you back your US$, or see that it was all a mistake and give back your US$. ![]() Great advice Tiger, although it probably would have been more effective if you IM'd her IW with it. lol ![]() _____________________

I don't agree CrystalShard should have to pay the land tier. After all, the only reason to pay the land tier is to own more land. There is an implicit assumption it isn't just going to be taken from you and your c/c charged.

It's really very simple.
Crystal did the honest thing, she admitted that she was playing around with invalid and unuseable land. What she should have done was found an exploit to the system, hidden the fact that she had that land, and never be charged a fee or penalty. ![]() This is the similar situation to those who temporarily hold land for others while rearranging their land. Two minutes or two days -- sorry, you have to pay. But I think you have a very good argument in that the land you purchased a) was already owned, b) was in a sim that was seriously having problems and c) the available land that you purchased really *didn't exist.* _____________________

I'm confused on Land Teirs all together and how any mortal being is supposed to comprehend them, is beyond me. I get to points where I think I understand them, then something comes up where, I don't.
I was the other avatar that first found you could buy the public land, I myself am well under my teir so had no issues with paying any overcharges. However, buying this land was to test *a bug*. For all purposes, this issue was effectivly *a bug*, it was not planned by LL, LL didn't even know it A) happened or B) how it happened (or atleast hasn't stated). Everything found that was possible in that sim was reported either by me or someone else, I believe I filed two different reports, one first regarding the actual absence of Abbotts being replaced by this (unnamed) sim, and a second after I found I could actualy purchase the land. I at first thought it may have been a feature, i.e. to replace a crashed sim with a void sim (which isn't a bad idea), untill I found you could buy the land, then I pretty much knew it was a bug. So technicly CrystalShard was bug testing, and well, found a pretty huge bug. It has been pretty standard practice for LL not to consider mistakes in auctions that put a person over a large sum of money when they misplaced a decimal, to not hold them to that, technicly, as soon as you put in the money in the box, you are saying you will buy that land for that ammount. But LL has chosen to refund these rather than withdraw the money that they could for all legal purposes take. So for something such as the case with the (unnamed) land, I believe LL could and should, refund the purchasing of it. CrystalShard obviously did not intend to keep the land, and obviously was aware that it was not real actual land that she would be in long-term possession of, its land that did not, and to this day, does not exist, in any shape or form. It is technicly no different than purchasing land on the Preview sim, neither land will really be in your posession, neither really matters in long term SL, the only difference is CrystalShard was actualy charged. And for a bug too. Edit: to fix grammer mistake. _____________________
