Where is everyone?

SL is so empty. Plots of land around me have gone unsold for decades. Heck, if anything the sim has gotten more empty since I moved in. Two of my neighbors are gone.
I think after LL is done with all the bugs they should be a little more agressive in their advertising. We need more people. Lots more people...

I think Philip mentioned the 8mil might go toward just that.

I think Moleculor Satyr ran them all away..LOL! He's about to run me away also..I got reported for posting too many posts concerning the subject of Male Dancers..just trying to get an interesting topic going on surveys and opinions. If I am going to have any kind of Entertainment business..I have to be informed of what people like. Now I am hesitant to even post any topic and if I don't have some kind of business in SL..it will become un-interesting to me very quickly and I don't mean dancing for some Night Club..they pay crap and it eats up all your freedom and time to enjoy exploring or leaving the night clubs from what I hear and rarely do I see many replies at the Employment or Services section..most come to the General Forums. I do understand there should be spam limits..I posted 4 threads..and that was going to be it for that day. Taking surveys requires alot of insight on feedback on certain wants and or services from the people. I don't really have a solution unless I just go around in game spamming and advertising my Services..I don't think Club owners would appreciate that though. Maybe I should just make a Female character so I can make money..I tend to think that it may be a little more difficult for a Male Dancer to make money when alot of the females are males themselves if that is the fact. Though I do appreciate the Party that WIKI group paid me to attend..special thanks to Lecktor Hannibal again for that..they did compensate me well and they are great people helping out a newbie like me. The only reason they knew about me and my business is because I posted here on the General Forums. By the way..in the "Find" listing in game..is there a place to advertise services without having a piece of real estate? And if so..how do you post your services?

Regarding the above post I made concerning males playing females..I met a female..at least I thought she was..and was very nice at first..being kind..giving me compliments and such..dancing with me..and very pretty..saying she loves a man in a Tuxedo and I was very good looking etc. etc. I told her that I would buy her something nice once I made some money..I was going to take her out dancing when I got the message to attend my first party and had told her what I do for business earlier..she said she understood I had to leave..I told her.."I can't leave you like that" she said.."It's alright..do what you need to we can go out later." She told me she would IM me later..well the party lasted until late and she had then logged off..well the next day she IM'd me and said.."Don't forget your promise." I asked..what was that? she said "About buying me something nice." Then of course Red Flags went up..hehe..my response was hesitated of course wondering if that's the only reason she was comming on to me the other day.. testing her and joking about getting naked and eating grapes..lol..she responded.."I have to be really deeply in Love with someone before that comes. She then told me "I don't think this is going to work out." I asked "Why do you say that?" She responded "I didn't appreciate that you left me like that to go on a date." I said.."A date?" "I told you it was just a party for someone that was male and it was his party for the group he was in and you told me it was alright to go and you understood." She said "Just forget about me..this isn't going to work out." She had made me think she was so interested in me and loved a man in a tuxedo and such earlier now she's changing her opinion all of a sudden so soon? Things like this tend to make me think that most are only out to get your money. Well I made an alt and saw her that evening and she was hitting on another guy and saying "I love men" obviously she/or he was on the hunt again after ditching me so quickly..things like this tend to make me think she was only out to get my money and could care less about my emotions. Well im used to it and know pretty quickly if someone is interested in me for me and when I tell them there was no sex involved and there is no trust..and the statement about the promise..i've heard it all before in other games..and have experience in this area. I came to this game to meet someone and have fun as well as have a business..(Dancing) as I do not have money to buy property and stores and do not know another way to aquire money at the moment..stores and property take investment..but that's beside the point..I believe my intuitions are fairly accurate unfortunately. Maybe I need to go back to slaying monsters lol.

I can tell you that for many many people (such as myself), SL was just a way to pass time until World of Warcraft and EQ2 and Half Life 2 and Halo 2 and SWG Jump to LS came out.

You think its empty now, just wait about 2 weeks. Personally I'm installing the Warcraft ST/Open Beta client as I type, and am just here killing time while it loads to my H/D.

These days, that's the only way to find people - not to expect to see them next door happily up to their green thumbs in landscaping.

My neighbors are, um.... the Slate Group's ski lodge, Garth and Pituca's vacation home, Siro Mfume who spends most of his time above 500 feet, a mall 300 feet above the surface, "Land for Sale"x3, and a couple of First Landers who are never around any more.

(Edit: forgot the back wall of a new, empty mall which stretches 256m along my home's border)

I'd rather live Far from the Madding Crowd and be able to choose when and where I socialize! (Still love ya, Eggy, though!)

I remember King's Quest I on an ol' amber-monitored PC.

A big draw for SL for me is the interactivity with other humans.

I'll never forget that.
