Unsweetened iced tea... what's that? That's not a beverage! ![]() I have to laugh at this. I was primarily a west coast person (British Columbia, Calif and Arizona), so we used to make a lot of sun tea but it was always unsweetened. My first visit to Wilksboro NC I went out to lunch with a client and ordered iced tea. What I got was cold, sweet, lemony syrup. I took a taste and nearly choked. That much sugar just makes me bounce off walls. I asked for an unsweetened ice tea and they looked at me like I was out of my mind. I had to settle for a diet coke as unsweetened tea does not seem to exist anywhere in the south. I felt like a had a big red Yankee flag over my head throughout the whole lunch. Hubby (from NC) had the problem in reverse. He came to California to visit my brother and ordered iced tea when we were out, took one sip, choked and said I thought I ordered iced tea? Then he promptly dumpted 5 packets of sugar into it - but that didn't seem to help much. _____________________

Rose...
I completely understand where you're coming from. Growing up in the sorta west, our sun tea was unsweetened until we put somethin in it. My grandma is from the south, however, and going to her house and drinking her tea was just asking for a mad sugar high. LMAO! _____________________

This morning I am drinking freshly ground Eight O'Clock 50/50 - both were just rated excellent by Consumer Reports and its relatively cheap - as in half the price or less! Fresh Arabica beans. Its excellent - tastey enough to be bare or with a little cream.
