Where do you get the repeaters for the town hall meeting so we can set them up on our land?

Town Hall with CEO Philip Linden this Friday, October 1, at 2 PM Pacific time.

Join us for a Q and A session with Philip - location to be announced. Please feel free to set up repeaters for gatherings on your own property and post them in the Events calendar.

If you have a question, IM it to Haney Linden and he will pass it along to Philip. If you have items that you like Philip to discuss, please consider IMing these to Haney in advance.

With the introduction of streaming URLs I doubt we will need repeaters. The last Town Hall was broadcast via streaming URL. Hopefully, they will be posting a URL for us soon to copy and paste into our parcel's land info dialog box.

Added... Ah...just read the announcement. I wish they would stream it like the last time. Much easier than using repeaters. Lindens can we have this option again? Thanks!

Thats if they don't do it like the last meeting where groups of 12 met with individual Lindens.

There's a Town Hall Meeting? Hmm... I've been around for a month and I'm still so out of the loop.

I truly hope they do stream it and post hte URL. I will ahve to be at work, as i am in PST, and i found the last one to be very informative as well as satisfying to hear exactly what IS going on. If not via stream...will anyone be capturing the data?

I believe the "url" or "stream" everyone is talking about is when Philip did the opening of the Time Capsule and did a live voice stream so you could actualy hear him do a speach and later answer questions through voice alone.

I too loved this idea and thought it worked great, it also allowed for *anyone* *anywhere* to listen to it.

I think it would be awsome if they did this again.

The only downfall of streaming audio is that a chat log is then not available, sure you have audio files, but a host for them might not always be available.

Edit: Forgot the actual question, I'm not sure if you can get repeaters or not, usualy someone sets one up at a location. But it is a good idea to be able to get repeaters for your own private parties or just for yourself to listen in.

I hope they do use icecast and post the URL again too. It was nice hearing the info instead of reading it, and everyone has access to it that way.

But maybe I'm biased because I like hearing Philip's sexy voice? :D

Ezhar usually has an email-based repeater that dumps the chat text to his website. I will probably be offering free in-world repeaters for people who want to listen in at satellite locations.

Great point! I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if it would be possible for Linden Lab to host the audio file of the Town Hall on a server and provide a URL to download/stream it from at our convenience?

Or, do we have the ability to capture a streaming URL's audio "signal" and save it as an audio file (either PC or Mac). I'm clueless about that option and would like to know if it is possible and what software one might use to accomplish it.

Is there someone who transcribe's who would be willing to create a text file of the Town Hall audio? I don't touch type and, though willing to attempt it, it may not get produced for quite a while.

If this is is going to be broadcast the old fashioned way (with repeaters) who do we contact to request a repeater for our parcel?

I know people had made mp3's of the audio somewhere, but I don't think the file is available anywhere anymore.

I'm not sure of what software by name does this, but I know some exists.

It'd be awsome if LL wanted to host the files, but I wouldn't blame they if they didn't either.

Transcriptions would be great too, I would try it myself, but I don't think I'd be very good because even though I do type fast, people always seem to talk faster than I can type.

This town hall will be run like past town halls - a few residents with the know-how will set up repeater networks, and will drop them at certain locations. Watch the forums (particularly this thread) for details.

I'll setup the IRC link again. The connection will be from the town hall meeting to the Efnet IRC Network room, #secondlife (which btw is staffed with a dozen SLers 24/7/365 days a year!) :D

Mine got hosed last time because SOMEONE accidentally returned it. :P After a new copy was rezzed (and took about 5 minutes to boot up, since the sim was packed with avatars) it ran fine.

I am about 90% sure I will be running a repeater network tomorrow. I am working on the backend logic presently.

Huns, if you do end up creating a repeater network for tomorrow's Town Hall, would you be able to place a receiver in my lookout in Rodeo. I'll leave an empty workbench for you to set it at the following coordinates - Rodeo (123, 75). You can put it next to the radio.

Thank you!

I will be giving out some repeaters as soon as we get the new land finished. I will post here for where you can get them and how to set up...

Please post repeater events in the events calendar so overflow crowds will know where to go. The main mic will be at Shelter 137, 217.

I'll be hosting a repeater in Boardman.

Of course I need one first but have not seen a followup post from Ben or Haney yet. I'll start looking for a Linden one at noon PST but if anyone would like to drop one into my inventory or near Boardman (200,184) it would be appreciated as a backup measure.

I normally would not do this (personally I like it quiet :) ), but since its a town hall meeting the event seemed fitting to the sim.
