*giggle*
this is the best thread i've read in a long time. christopher...if you tell me you can play the rhythm method with your molars, i shall be IMPRESSED. ![]() I noticed soemthing else today- do any of you with the symmetry and pattern issues find that poorly or clumsily tiling textures drive you INSANE? And not just in games- I notice it everywhere. I was looking at wallpaper in a friend's house today, and there was a tiling flaw in the print. I couldnt keep my eyes off of it. I even found myself counting how many of them occured up and down the lengths of the walls at one point. Not out of boredom, just completely sucked in by that flaw. I mentioned it to her, and she tells me she's lived there a year and never noticed it. wtf!!!! _____________________

Well since this got bumped....
I had a college professor who was a herpetologist (he studied lizards mainly). Sometimes when he was nervous or if you asked him a question he would flick his tongue in and out of his mouth several times in rapid succession, just like a snake. Just to give you a mental picture... He was a very small, tanned, old wrinkled guy. He had a long tongue too. So I think the lizard’s behavior rubbed off on him some. Half the class would die laughing when he did it (its much funnier when he was talking about lizards or something). He would never really acknowledge we were laughing at him. |

I invented the leg shake thing! My mom says I started to do it when I was younger because I'm hyperactive and I found it to be a great way to dump excess energy. Now I think of it as a calorie burner when I eat the odd chocolate bar at work
![]() *slaps the back of someone's head* <EDIT>! I have the pattern thing too... I think it comes from being in design and all. I pick patterns apart, can tell you where the line of repeat is... it drives me nuts if one element is too big and just ruins the flow of the pattern. My first design job in the real world after college was for a wallpaper company, so maybe that's why ... ![]() I also find faces in EVERYTHING. My closet door as a kid had the scariest face in it (wood burls are the bane of my existance!). My ceiling at my apartment has a wood burl pattern that looks like a pair of alien eyes. I still see that closet face in my dreams ...</EDIT> I raise my left eyebrow when thinking or "finding" something in my memory. In college people said it was my hard drive access light (yeah, I was geek ) If nervous I'll take my thumb ring off and flip it once, then put it back on, rinse, repeat. This is a new one since I never wore a ring before. My favorite one: I sit down like a dog if sitting on the floor/ground! I'll turn once or twice and then sit cross-legged on the floor. Again, Mom to the rescue on explaining my odd behavior. Our dog spent a lot of time in my room when I was a baby and I picked up the habit from her! Oh yeah, and I kick my leg like a dog when scratched behind the ear, but mostly cuz guys think it's cute O![]() _____________________

I do the symmetry thing with my body....and do the pattern thing. Once I find one pattern, I make other patterns out of it. And patterns also turn into faces and bodies and stories. Maybe that's why I hardly ever find myself bored.
When I set my alarm clock, I can't set it to say 6:30, 6:00, or 6:15, it has to be 6:31 or 6:01 or 6:16. If I'm really tired when I set my clock, it goes from 6:31, 6:01 or 6:16 to 6:33, 6:03 or 6:18. So I never set it on the 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. It's either 6, 11, 16, 21 or 8, 13, 18, 23, etc. Don't know why, never really thought of it before.....Never set the numbers to end in 2, 4, 7, 9 either....weird...... don't know if this counts......I also have a food texture thing, can't stand eating soft food that has hard food in it.....like can't stand nuts in ice cream.....but I love nuts by themselves. Only thing I can stand that is hard in soft food is chocolate, must be the texture of chocolate or something. And I can't stand mushrooms cuz they squeak when I chew them. And I'm like a little puppy, I constantly find myself chewing on something, pen caps, straws, or gum. Not my nails though : ) |

What a great thread....I am a pen clicking leg bouncer. The leg bounce thing is great when my friends bring their babes over but the pen clicking is bad for meetings and interviews so I take a plain pen with no clicker and hold it in my lap and pretend.
Also a shape shifter...I'll stare at something forever and zoom in and out making it change shapes....my father always knew when I was doing it to his face during those long drawn out lectures...he would yell would you please quite with the morphing I know your doing it!!! I would make him look like an old gray man with a long beard, or make his eyes merge into one so he looked like a horrid cyclops. As I got older I did it with everything making them shift changing the placement and colors it is amazing what the eyes can do when working with the brain but it is highly addictive. _____________________

always finding faces, designs, characters.. all sorts of stuff. sometimes they seem to take on their own personality, sometimes a story.. crazy stuff.. but crazy cool! ![]() heck, i've even drawn non-sensical scrawlings knowing that stuff could be found in it when i was done.. there's one i made once that seems to almost move.. _____________________

A good way to get rid of tics is with a hot match. Stick in on their butt and they will let go, cause they use thier butt to breathe dontcha know.

I tried to use MY butt to breathe once, but all I did was fart. And then no one ELSE could breathe.

When I was about 10 I had a facial tic in which I winked my left eye, well more like winced.. it was enough to scrunch up the left side of my face.. after awhile that faded and I developed a tic in which I felt the need to stretch the muscles in my neck, particularly the left side of my neck.. only just a month ago did I look information up on WebMD and find out this is associated to TD. growing up I had learning problems, problems paying attention, a few compulsive disorders also. The first compulsive act I found myself performing was around the same time I developed the tics. I found that after I read a word, I felt the need to say it backwards in my head.. fairly annyoying..my leg boncing is so bad the other day the person at the cubicle next to me asked if I was doing that because his monitor was rocking back and forth.. luckily my tics and OCD behaviours died down.. although I still have an extremely compulsive personality..

Uhm. Tics.
*ponders* Does it count if you tend to pop random joints just because? I can pop all my major joints except my hips and including my tailbone. (I just know I'm going to wind up one of those totally arthritic old people someday...) I used to jiggle a lot, but my mother always made me stop, especially in church until I finally stopped doing it. _____________________

When I'm thinking about something intensely I start rubbing my earlobes with my index fingers and thumbs.
Been doing that for over 30 years. Salazar |

Oh my gosh! This thread is soooooo funny!!
Devlin Gallant said: I tried to use MY butt to breathe once, but all I did was fart. And then no one ELSE could breathe. ok, here is the ideal product for YOU buddy! (everyone should check this out .... the testimonials will have you ROFL!!) Flat-D Flatulence Deodorizer And Sal ..... When I'm thinking about something intensely I start rubbing my earlobes with my index fingers and thumbs. Hmm, maybe you're part Ferengi ...... ? (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!) Ok, now to MY obsessive compulsive behaviors!! I always turn my spoon upside down as I put it in my mouth when eating ice cream. I find myself rocking back and forth often, when sitting or even standing in one place. And I often eat just one kind of thing on my plate before moving on - for example, the whole hamburger has to be gone before I'll start on the fries. |

Another one -- If I have a bag of M&Ms, I have to sort them out by color before eating them. The blue ones are *always* the last ones to go.
People tend to stare when I dump the blue ones back into the bag -- I'm not sure why... ![]() _____________________
