Bit Phaeton wrote a request for a kind of scripting class in this thread: scripting class thread and Nexus Nash brought up somethings in this thread Making SL a Better Place that inspired me to throw out a general request of all you experts out there.

We need some specific-task oriented classes right now to teach us all how to optimize with textures and scripting. There are a good number of people out there who are faced with learning to scale back in a big way, and it seems like some scripting/texturing tasks that would be relatively basic for some of you aren't generally known by the rest of us.

Bit's suggestion for a class on scripting a self-rezzing temporary object does seem pretty vital to a lot of us right now -- and I think that it would be a well attended class. I would go, I can tell you that.

Nexus Nash brought up something in his thread that I think also could be important -- classes on just how to tweak the texture area of the build tool to get a single texture to work harder -- i.e. to show up with parts on different faces, etc.

It would also be extremely useful for a good number of the merchants in SL to have a class on creating an easily customizable vending object. I can think of a lot of folks who might find this useful enough to solve their prim problems right now.

I'm positive there is a lot of other useful skills/scripts/knowledge out there that other folks will think of. Those of us who are having trouble balancing our prim counts might just need to have a small re-education on how to optimize use of the game. I know I personally could use tips on a lot of things. So list the classes you think we need, in addition to the ones I've listed. Or volunteer to teach one, pretty please :).

What happened to all the teachers?

The SLU Building and campus grounds are open and ready for anyone looking for great space and teaching tools. We do seem to be missing a faculty at this point...

The official Linden teaching system is strictly limited to basics classes and to those who can teach at least once a week, but the events system will support a variety of classes that have some sort of awards system for handing out prize money.

This would be a great way to get the University up and running again... anyone out there still interested?
