Hi,
I just realized that I'm going to have a week of 'use it or lose it' vacation this summer (jul, aug, or sept) ; and that I would like to take a real honest to goodness vacation. I'm hoping that since you guys are bored enough to be in a SL off-topic forum, you can take the time to offer some suggestions for where I should go?
here are some paramaters:
1) I can take 7 days, including air-travel time 3) I wish to leave the US 4) I've been to mexico many times, so that's out 5) I lived in Europe for a few years, and spent a lot of time in Germany, France, England, Ireland, and Italy, so they're out. 6) I have a budget, including airfare and hotel, of about 5000 USD 7) my interests include boozing, lying down, and history (museums are AOK!) - No paragliding for taco, thanks.
Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
Added: If I take you up on your idea, I'll get you a RL gift from there (and no, Darko, that doesn't mean I'm going to Amsterdam at your behest).

Any ideas? Thanks for any help! Greece is outside the US, not a country on your list, chock full o history, and a great place to party.

Don't go to Iceland. It's crazy strange there.
How strange?
The phone books are ordered by first name, instead of last. THAT'S how strange.

My recommendation to you, Taco, is to consider Thailand, aka "the land of a thousand smiles" (and prolly more laughter). I'm gonna stereotype now but this is only 'cuz I'm part-Thai, ha ha ha: easy-going people, booze -- check! -- lots of that if you want it, pleasant fun-in-the-sun and big beaches (not just the movie The Beach), sounds like some of the crazily atmosphere is in line with your personality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThailandJust don't touch someone on the head or you'll be killed. I'm not kidding. Well, maybe I am, to a certain extent, but it is really frowned upon.

Jamaica Mon - it's awesome! I go there every year and have for the last 19 years. I even met my husband there and went back and got married there.
If you want a nice relaxing all inclusive resort - Sandals or Grand Lido, though Grand Lido is expensive.
If you want a hair raising, party, party place - Hedonism II.
There are multiple web sites for them both. I go every May and meet up with a bunch of friends that have also been going for the last decade or so.
Take some time to hop on a bicycle and ride around in downtown Nigril - it's really a nice town and you can beat Jamacian people for friendly.

Japan is very pricey, but *so* worth seeing. Buy a guide about touring Japan. It'd cut costs.

Added: If I take you up on your idea, I'll get you a RL gift from there (and no, Darko, that doesn't mean I'm going to Amsterdam at your behest). Hmmm... $500 including air fair... INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL... 7 nights lodging, meals, booze and hookers... errr... I mean entertainment... Can we all say it together... TIJUANA!!! HEHE Ooops... Mexico is out ay? Guess you are screwed then! Ooops... I misread the dollar amount... sorry... 5K should be enough for a nice vacation... hehe... I will leave my post for your viewing pleasure though. Personally I love the Cotswolds area of England… friendly people and beautiful countryside. Or perhaps Rome as a base to explore Italy…. Lots of cool historic places and a party place… Go to the Pantheon for a drink. Better yet get a Eurail pass and just roam around Europe... I did that once and loved it. Oh, I have never been there but I hear that the Brazilians party like nobody else. They are a beautiful people and the country is supposed to be stunning.
