And yes, this is completely pointless.

That sounds like fun, Cubey; I wish I could join you. Unfortunately, RL dictates otherwise.

I saw this on the schedule this morning already. The direct route is 9050m, following the road route will be a little further. I think if you really hoofed it and didnt stop for anything it will take about 1.5 hours, so I will factor in some additional time and predict it will take right at 3 hours.
I will try to find you along the route somewhere, cant make the whole trip, but I wish you a good journey. Should be fun for those that make the trek. |

SIM Combat Break?

Looks like you'll be passing both SIM Combat arenas in Westport (17,22) and Europa (106, 160). Why not stop off for a quick duel!

Godspeed, Cubey, for you are a better man than I! Says the man who walked every sim, not even a whole year ago... _____________________

Godspeed, Cubey, for you are a better man than I! Of course, your two walks across the world provided the inspiration, Hamlet. Last time we all walked through over 90 sims with you, which at that time was the entire world. Now I think it would take several days to visit *every* sim. My walk today is a little shorter. It starts at noon in Coniston and goes until I'm in Luna. No running. No flying. No teleporting. No vehicles. Bring sandwiches and coffee. ![]() _____________________

This is just a training run for this years World Walk right? Hamlet should go. I wonder if the world walk will happen this year? I think it could happen, but not all in one stretch, make it a week long event, walking some everyday.

What about relogs, and catch-up teleports when you find yourself at the botom of a lake eight sims back? Hmm. Good question. I think flying is permitted after a crash, just to get back onto the route. Otherwise this could take days. _____________________

This is just a training run for this years World Walk right? Hamlet should go. Correct, Loki. This *not* Hamlet's official Walk Across the World. This is my cheap, spur-of-the-moment rip-off. ![]() _____________________

I just noticed that I mis-typed "Coniston" on my map. )Long walks can be fun- the slower speed alows more things to rez. It also gives you the perspective of visualizing the world as a whole and not a random clutster of places. It's intersesting to see how different neighborhoods blend into new ones from sim to sim.It does tend to get laggy after several sims, so be forewarned. _____________________

We made it!
02-13-2005 13:57
It took a long time, and we met a few dangers along the way. Gigantic holes in the road, phantom bridge surfaces, sudden gravity failures, lag, and killer trolleys stood in our way. But we prevailed in the end. An hour and 45 minutes later, we arrived in Luna, safe and sound, and danced in the fountain.
Thanks, everyone who joined me on this trek. It was the best pointless thing I've done in SL! ![]() ![]() If anyone has any photos, please post 'em here! _____________________
