SL for me has always been about the people. To be mentioned in this thread by even one person warms my heart. And that is something that happens with just about every resident I meet in SL.

Pendari, Essence and Kris u know how much I love u each of you. Thanks so much.

SL is not a popularity contest but an incredible platform for us to meet in.

Add the total population together with love, creativity, talent, vision, kindness and respect add a dash of the LL magic and that gives u the best people in this Second Life and the first life as well!

Paca Hannibal my SL son who mystically vaporizes our of thin air on my property every single time that I am feeling really, really, bad and makes me feel better and never gets angry with me when I am too tired to stay and talk.

If you even read these forums Paca - thanks for being a friend.

As many have said, there are just too many wonderfully nice people out there to start listing.

You know who you are, you bring joy to those around you. You aid another, no questions asked. If a shoulder is needed, you're there. You treat others as you wish to be treated.
You make the world a better place.

Didn't that give a nice warm fuzzy feeling? *winks*

:)

PS: Thank you Angel for thinking of me *hugs*

Why can't folks be this nice in Real Life?

I'm only about 2 weeks old in SL, but I've met a lot of fun, interesting, genuinely helpful people whose unique names I can't ever recall, having only met them once. But there are a few people who I'm happy and wriggly to call friends:

Koshka Plisskin: When I was still trying to figure out how to make my avatar look the way I wanted it to, I went around asking people where I could find better hair. Koshie not only pointed out a couple of places, she tp'd to one with me, hung around while I hemmed and hawed about the choices, and gifted me a nice blue scrap to wear. I was amazingly touched by this show of support for someone she didn't even know. She's opened her home up to me, been continually supportive of my puppyish blundering, and just been so great that I wish she lived closer to me so we could hang out in RL as well.

She's since gone on to become the first of (I hope) many friends for whom I'm doing portraits. Maybe I'll have a show someday if I get enough of them... Koshie, thank you for being so wonderful!

Samia Perun: When I saw Samia for the first time, he was with another new friend, Outkastar, and they were both wearing the (somewhat) new werewolf avs. I was instantly smitten and had to go over and gush over how great they looked. I mentioned that I was looking for a werewolf body, and the three of us got into a nice long conversation about the fun to be had being werewolves. During that time, the both of them shared many animations and gestures with me, and a couple of cool and fun avs, too.

Since then, not a day's gone by that I've been in-world that I haven't spent a little time with Samia. He's been amazingly generous with his time, even for those things that I've been newby about that for him, I'm certain, are commonplace. We've talked about a great range of subjects and I feel like he's definitely exemplified the "cool long-term resident" ideal. He became the second portrait in my series, and I look forward to hanging out with him again. Samia, you're the greatest! (by the way, Outkastar is also getting a portrait; he just doesn't know it yet 'cause he's been away from SL for a couple of weeks)

Heaven Portocarrero: Heaven's just so sweet, fun, and inclusive that she's the next portrait on my list. I don't even know now how I met her, except that I somehow wandered into her sex club, curious about what passes for sexual shenanigans in SL. Instead of being haughty and cliquish, Heaven welcomed me into her place, despite my being the only nonhuman present; clearly a fish out of water. Since then, I've watched her display remarkable calm, poise, and humor in the midst of many a crowded, laggy room. She never seems ruffled, or impatient, and always has a scritch under the chin for me. Love you, Heaven!

And the list continues to grow, the more time I spend in SL. The sense of adventure is why I came to SL in the first place, but the people are why I'm staying, and why I'll eventually choose to become a Premium member (once I can afford it); I want to throw parties for my friends! I invite any and all of you, if you should run into these exceptional people, to greet them warmly and tell them that Akela sends his love. You can also come find me, I love making new friends! I'm the dark grey werewolf loping around with a silly grin on his face!
