3 reasons why removing money from non-instructional events won't solve anything:
-----

Event: Learn How to Be a Man!
Description: Come to Club XXX for some hot instructional action as our escorts teach you the ways of love.
Cost: Reasonable entrance fee 1000L / 30 minutes, other rates available!

Event: Party down and blunt-smoking lessons
Description: Darko and Paris invite you to paaaarrrrrrtaaayyyY!!!! For newbies, we'll be teaching you the fine arts of smoking blunts and boogying down! For the experience toker, you can help the newbies in their Second Life marijuana appreciation growth.

Event: Exploit Class
Description: Be tought how to exploit known bugs in Second Life. Purely for educational purposes, of course. Linden supported since an educational event!

...

Go ahead, folks, post your own!

I'll volunteer to instruct one of these! :p

I imagine Linden support will be determined on the actual educational content of the event. Then everyone can all come back here and post 'UNFAIR! How come he got support for his sexball creation class and I didnt get one for my blowjob course?!' threads. Yay!

Wont work. Mature events were disqualified a while ago (along with gambling and a few others). :)

I could hold an 'Introduction to Slooting'

Iunno what the content would be, but it would involve trolls, rum, scantily clad willows, poles, vaseline and a leek...

My third one would work.

What about then:

Event: Learn how to play bingo!

Event: Learn how to use a dance machine!

Event: Learn how to earn dwell in a club with money-balls?

etc

'Given this, we've decided to eliminate the Linden-funded financial incentives for holding events. With the exception of educational classes for the benefit of newbies (mentor and instructor-led events), we'll stop support payments at the end of this week (16 January). There won't be any change to dwell payments"

So I guess those "How to use sex balls for everyday uses" classes will be run by mentors and instructors now

Sure. Since its Linden supported anyway, the first ten people can have them for 10L$ off the retail price. Can't say fairer than that, now can I?

I actually missed this fact. That actually might make a HUGE difference on my opinion of it, since it'd be cut and dry on who can get support.

Still, it's funny to think

Event: Learn how to give me L$

They let any moron be a mentor these days. Haven't you heard? We've had racist griefer thugs, people who copy other people's work using bug exploits, people who sell other people's work blatantly from their shops STILL after being abuse reported several times.. you name it. I used to be a mentor. I left in disgust.

Disclaimer: Not all mentors are morons. But a lot of morons are mentors. If you see what I mean.

Yes I have heard. However I also heard that good people that have applied to be Mentors haven't been accepted. Could be rumor tho. Ugh, I'm tired...need sleep. See ya all in a few hours.

Mentor isn't a requirement; read it again (emphasis mine):

LMAO, sorry I think its funny it took 2years for someone to finally bitch enough to get this stopped even though at first it was a wonderful tool for helping both Newbs and those who conducted events.

See what a few bad apples that are greedy for cash gets ya ...fun stuff shut down and cut off...whats next Stipend???

Shadow..

Hey, Milo, you're right. I think this is how I originally read it... what was I thinking in changing my mind?

Event: Learn How to exploit events for your own goals
Description: Hiro is demonstrating how he can use linden sponsored events in the new system to sponsor the most ridiculous things, proving that the change really isn't going to have an effect on event abuse. Hiro will show that a solution to this problem will require a much more innovative idea.
LINDEN SPONSORED LEARNING EVENT! WOO!
