if the void sims are 4 sims on one processor, that kind of technology could be used to make golf course sims. so land for these kind of sims could count for 1/4 of tier costs.

these kinds of sims are not only good for flying and boating, they could be great for low density developments like golf courses.

What I was thinking. I mean, we dont need that many prims or avatar support for the course, do we? I think that if it is a well spaced course, a 4 sims on one processor setup would be superb. Now, we would have to talk with LL about aranging such a deal, but I think that it would be worth it. I'd be glad to help run or build this course.

There is an old thread about this and the scripting aspects at /8/b0/20845/1.html

The thing about the physics engine is in order for balls to react correctly, they would have to be fairly big. In order for a normal par 3 hole to feel like golf, it would probably have to take 6 sims.

What about starting with a "cartoon" feel to the golf? Oversized balls (insert joke here) and such like some games do.

Maybe LL would give some sims for dedicated people to accomplish this? :P

We are testing running multiple sims on 1 server right now (we are doing that with the water sims), so yes we will be able to make this available to people very soon. So you could indeed build on 4 sims to create a course. But as I said earlier you really don't need to - one sim feels pretty big already.

Also, the existing vehicle scripts would probably make perfectly acceptable vehicles for driving on a smooth golf course.

As to the ball, a slightly larger (10cm) ball will roll acceptably - I don't think it would bug folks... anyway you could use it only during flight (which could make it easier to see) and then change its size once it stopped.
