call me dense but what's the point of a hotel in sl? irl hotels have two purposes, a place to sleep away from home and a place to uh, "sleep" away from home. we don't sleep and most people i'm guessing want privacy when they uh, "sleep" and you won't get that in a typical hamster house hotel. what's up with this idea?
and whoever said "what market", yeah what market? i haven't seen cars full of tourists driving around endlessly with tired kids in the back seat looking for a place to stay.  |

The idea is not totally new. I have seen several hotels in SL. There is currently one operating in Furu, although in reality it is used more as an apartment complex. If you want to know how it is doing, contact Karen Playfair.

*pssst Darko, Paris, Lecktor, Ace, and all those with a similar thoughtline*... how about a towering hotel called THE HIGH RISE? It'd have a big pot leaf emblem stamped on the side, much bigger than any Trump logo will ever be, and it will smell sweet.

I have heard of honeymoon suites in world. Not just the Ali Plats or small rooms in a club, but folks who have decent parcels of land that can be rented by arrangement. Cayman is kind of like this (although much more than that). I seem to remember Lisse having some at one point. I've even thought about doing something similar if I ever plopped down a nice house. I know others have discussed the concept, but more secluded bed and breakfast without the breakfast, not motels for Diamond Joe Quimby. The major point, hotels don't seem to meet the real privacy need without a ton of space. You could go vertical, then lose a whole lot of the charm as well. Unless one considers it another theme or fetish, which, well, when in SL.... The idea of a bed and breakfast "guild" would interest me though. Not a business per se, just a listing of folks who would be cool with renting their spaces out for a time, maybe with some simple scripts on each parcel to facilitate privacy. The more beautiful places get more clients, and a lot of the land that is usually lying unused might actually earn some change once in a while. |
