Can anyone help me decode what that thing says? http://secondlife.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/groceries.jpg"P.ch ve" (purchase?) at the store: - ammo - Playing cards - stuff for tacos - Rope. (lots) - Towels! [no doubt a reference to HHGG ] - Waffle "iior" (Bulissoiouf?) - Latest issue of Players [tee hee!] - Inflatable raft {on the right side} - onions - "G. peppio" - baking soda {Diagonal Reminder} - Ask carla about "Iem o ne nerds" {Stick Figures} - You hack! (probably referring to Jauani's post "Magellan, you are such a hack! Everyone knows you are stealing the limelight of the real explorers you are following! I'm tired of this linden orchestrated politics!" - "Mom.s" no "speum" but will still kick your ass!

Nice decoding work, Eggy. That last sentence looks more to me like: "There is no spoon, but Bub will still kick your ass."LOL!

"I will still kick your ass"
Towels is highlighted... maybe they're planning to "Hitchhike"?
Hmm... planetary travel may not be so unlikely.

Also also adding to the excitingness of this metaARG (Alternate Reality Game) would have to be checking out the profiles of the explorers named in: https://secondlife.com/community/experience.phpThey're really in there! And what kinda suits are THOSE??? Also note the similarity between one of them and a certain Linden. If it's gonna be outah space, there'd bettah be some exciting trysting locations!

From: Oz Spade Suits? You mean the one Magellan is wearing in his ID pic? I'm referring to more of an exoskeleton type dealio, not just the tighter-fitting one in Mag's ID piccie.

Perhaps Magellan's Music offers a hint. Probably not. After having gone to the trouble of finding these lyrics (and discovering that Komeda is a pretty good listen), I figured I might as well post them. Fall - The Frenz Experiment - Hit The North Hit the North My Cat says eeeee-ack Hit the North 95% of [hayseeds or corn-pone], guaranteed Computers infest the hotels Cops can't catch criminals But what the heck, they're not too bad, they talk to God
Religioussssss Hit the North Manacled to the city, manacled to the city All estate agents alive yell down nights in hysterical breath Those Northern lights... so pretty Those big big big wide streets Those useless MPs Savages... Hit the North (Manacled to the system)
From the back third eye psyche, the reflected mirror of delirium, Eastender and Victoria's lager, the induced call, mysterious, comes forth - Hit the North (Savages) Hit the North The Arcade Fire - Funeral - Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) i woke up with the power out, not really somethin to shout about. ice has covered up my parents hands, don't have any dreams don't have any plans. i went out into the night, i went out to find some light. kids are swingin from the power lines, nobody's home so nobody minds i woke up on the darkest night, neighbors all were shouting that they found the light - "we found the light." - shadows jumpin' all over my walls, some of them big, some of them small. i went out into the night i went out to pick a fight with anyone. light a candle for the kids, jesus christ don't keep it hid! ice has covered up my parents eyes, don't know how to see, don't know how to cry. growin' up in some strange storm, nobody's cold, nobody's warm. i went out into the night, i went out to find some light. kids are dyin' out in the snow, look at them go - look at them go! and the power's out in the heart of man, take it from your heart put it in your hand. what's the plan? what's the plan? is it a dream? is it a lie? i think i'll let you deceide. just light a candle for the kids, jesus christ don't keep it hid! cause nothing's hid, from us kids! you ain't foolin' nobody - with the lights out! and the power's out in the heart of man, take it from your heart put it in your hand. and there's something wrong in the heart of man, you take it from your heart and put it in your hand! where'd you go?! Komeda - (Unknown Album) - Nonsense Don't wanna be your friend no more, leave me alone How could I be so stupid to have faith in you? You're the one to blame for all that has gone wrong
I'm going, gone and I'm finally out But I'm not feeling lonely I'm going, gone and I'm finally out And I am feeling so fine
How could I be so stupid to have faith in you? You're the one to blame for all that has gone wrong I should have known that all you said was a big lie I'd rather do nothing than spend time with you
I'm going, gone and I'm finally out But I'm not feeling lonely I'm going, gone and I'm finally out But I'm not feeling lonely I'm going, gone and I'm finally out But I'm not feeling lonely I'm going, gone and I'm finally out And I am feeling so fine
I don't like your company, so sick of you Don't wanna be your friend no more, leave me alone

Hmm, maybe a city? Or a ruined city?
The last one looks alot like Magellan's contempt for LIER and their sending him on another mission.

Paranoia++
I'm assuming that the Magellan mission stuff is supposed to hint towards the truth about the new land. This assumption is based on previous hinting done. Also, it would be rather boring if the gorcery list were just a grocery list. So I began to look at it from a Steganographic viewpoint. What if there were information contained in the image? What if some secret about the new continent were embedded within the innocuous looking grocery list?
I've attached an image which contains a sample of an encoded image on the left, and a normal version of that same image on the right. You can see that the picture has become more pixelized in appearance, even when compared to the abundant compression artifacts of the normal version. The grocery list looks very similar, suggesting that it may contain hidden information. Of course, it's infinitely more likely that it is just a really crappy jpeg. But I love embarassing myself with conspiracy theories, so enjoy!

LOL no. Whatever hints LL dropped on us could not require advanced knowledge of stuff like steganography. You're just seeing JPEG compression artifacts. My guess is that Bub was in a hurry, and didn't think we would care so much about the little grocery list thingy, let alone attempt to "decode" it

Maybe Australia or Africa?

in the latest update Magellan says they got their vehicle which is a "Barbenfouillis Class PRV (Projectile Rocket Vehicle)". i googled "Barbenfouillis" and that was the name of the leader of the lunar expedition in the old old silent film Voyage to the Moon. seen anything unusual when you look up at night?
