World Trade Center Memorial Opening

No one was passed over on 9/11.

You may not have been there. You may have known no one who perished. The wars that followed ?
may have yet to come to your door.

The loss of so many lives, and the pain of so many more, has become the personal grief of ?
the entire world.

We present this place of pillars and phantom towers to everyone -- to those who lost, to ?
those who have become lost, to those who seek some cornerstone of comfort, of courage and ?
of common ground.

We have restored the memory of the WTC. We have marked the time of destruction in the ?
language of creation to show that it was a terrible moment, yet that moment is done.

And though the grief and the memory will always persist, there is yet hope and good in the ?
world.

Come, and remember that which was lost, and recall that which remains.

At 6:59 SLT we will observe a moment of silance. We will silance all noise for 2974 seconds in remeberance of the 2974 that gave their lives that day (not including the attackers).

Three buildings in the World Trade Center Complex collapsed due to structural failure on the day of the attack.

The south tower (2 WTC) fell at approximately 9:59 a.m., after burning for 56 minutes in a fire caused by the impact of United Airlines Flight 175 at 9:03 a.m.

The north tower (1 WTC) fell at 10:28 a.m., after burning for approximately 102 minutes in a fire caused by the impact of American Airlines Flight 11 at 8:46 a.m.
