Server for playing World of Warcraft together

Ok, so that it is not buried in another thread, I am going to take the lead and start a thread. My suggestion for a server is to choose an RPPVP one - I suggest the new Lightninghoof server which has just launched. The question then comes down to horde or alliance? I suppose I will add a poll

I voted Alliance, but I know nothing about WoW--I'm downloading Winzip now so I can set up the trial client.

Either is fine with me. Horde might be fun, my main char is alliance so it would be different but I really don't care.

Lightninghoof sounds good to me.

Let's all use our SL names too so we can easily identify each other unless someone has a major objection.

My only horde caveat is I don't want to play undead. I would prefer Orc or Tauren (Troll uses the same storyline as Orc for the most part anyway). On the Alliance side, I will play any, though I am a bit sick to death of those newbie missions lol.

Another question... do we all want to start with the same race so we will have the same starting point?

Alliance is fine too... lafs... A troup of Dwarfs would be kinda funny!

Do they still have missions on the PVP servers Cris?

Everything is the same on a PVP server - and in our starting zones we are completely safe anyway - even if the opposite faction comes in, they can't attack you unless you attack them first. We shoudln't use our SL names, as an RP server has more strict rules about naming - they should be more "fantasy" oriented. We can just keep a list of the characters in this thread. I'll probably whip up something tonight again on SLU as well.

Or we could set up two groups of starting points. I love being undead. But I'm up for something new.

Considering after like level 10 it gets easy for all of us to converge in Oggrimar, it doesn't really matter. I am either going to be tauren or orc, I haven't decided.

Would you be opposed to using our first names from SL? I am so damn forgetfull about names... lafs

Well again, RP servers are a bit more strict. You can create it if you want, though I doubt Billy will be available I made a tauren hunter called Pequeno . Once you put people on your buddy list, it's not hard to find them then. I'll keep track of who people are, but you can name your character what you want. I am not sure how strict the rules are for RP.

Already irked that 80% of the content of the upcoming addon is the supposedly PVP-only (even in nonPVP servers) Outlands.

I'd be willing to move if it was not pvp, everything else is fine for me.

I tried RPPVP once already and was not any more impressed than with regular PVP. No fun when all the quest NPCs are usually surrounded by a gank squad of high levels. I ended up sitting in the Ogri tavern for 2 weeks because I couldn't leave town without being ganked just outside of the guard aggro range. Finally gave up and went to Stormrage.

Created a Horde on Lightninghoof as agreed on. I am a Tauren - Shamen..my name is Huna. (Hawaiian for Shamenism) And might I say I am DAMN cute!

Connected with Cristiano there, err I mean Pequeno. We need a Guild name everyone. Taking ideas. What was the book SL was based on? Snowcrash? Or I dunno something that is SOMEWHAT tied to Second Life.

PS: My work copy of WoW is updating to latest patch. Then I'll be in... as Psyra.
Wish I could port my Stormrage druid over. She'd at least have a chance against the gank army. Ah well, if I make it to TB or Org it'll probably become a permanent home.

Well Rick and I have started to get the ball rolling - we are both Taurens, on Lightninghoof - my name is Pequeno, his is Huna.

I suggest making a list of players with SL names, WOW name, Race and class. We don't all wanna be healers... lafs.

Yes, please do. In about an hour or so when I get home, I'll try to con my roomie into following me o'er there too. I wanted to be Tauren, he wanted to be Undead, and as a result we landed on Night Elves, that we're keeping at the same level (about 17 now, on Spiresomethingorother right now...) I swear to god if I see that silly Night-Elf Michael Jackson dance one more time...

LOL I just told that to (Cris) Pequeno and he liked it. Also Psyra aka Psrya just joined us as well.
