and today i was in the ER again... anaphylaxis again, more severe than ever. Liam came home and my face was 'unrecognizably deformed'. (yay.)

But I think I finally found a link: every time it's happened, i took NSAIDs a few hours earlier... It doesn't explain some of it, but at least i'm getting closer to a cause-effect relation.

The uriticaria has been constant, but every time I've had anaphylaxis, I had taken either ibuprofen or naproxen a few hours earlier.

Whether it's raw allergy to these things (i doubt, since i've taken them befor ewith no problems) or an interaction with something else... we dont know yet.

Back up to 60mg of prednisone... but at least now there's a cause/effect relation of some sort...

... still pushing through...

heh i'll update if people wanna know. I know i'll get the "DONT USE THE FORUMS AS A BLOG!" IM's again but, a plus is, I have been breathing for one week straight.

To many, this may not seem like a great accomplishment.

But trust me. Once you stop... you just can't get enough. (of air, that is.)

I'll update if folks wanna know.

Well, today was another bad day but not enough to send me up the river. A little throat tightening, but pushin through. They've got me down to 20mg of prednisone (thank god, that stuff is scary), 360mg of Allegra (thats like 3x the normal dosage... the insurance company didn't want to pay for it), 300mg of ranitidine for an H2 blocker, and still 100mg of Atarax/Hydroxizine every night + 50mg of benadryl.

So yeah I'm on a cocktail, and beleive it or not it still isn't knocking everything out. But at least i'm slowly getting off the prednisone: reason being --

--Last night I went in, and they wanted to do a biopsy. Ok, fine, as much as I hate the idea of having a 'core sample' taken. After they did it, it wouldn't stop bleeding. (Thanks, Prednisone!) ... So they had to stitch it up -- my first stitches. :P I didn't feel a -thing- because Lidocaine rocks that much.

But I lost a lot of blood and ended up just laughing at the situation :P

Oh! And I get to have diabetes for a month or so! Apparently prednisone does THAT, too, in addition to - well, its just really nasty stuff. Going down to 15mg by the weekend. yee. But I'm assured its only temporary. I didnt know you could even -get- "diabetes for a month", but I guess you can.

Sooo, keepin on keepin on. Stable for a week has been good, bump in road last night and today... hoping the biopsy results are conclusive and then more allergist crapola next week where I get injected, inspected, detected, infected, neglected and selected. Or something.

Now, stage 2: DOXEPIN. Let's see what this does. Now I'm taking 8 pills twice a day. better living through chemistry.

Doc said I -might- have this my entire life, but he underlined -might-. he still thinks not. bleh. Good thing is, the two things he's worried about: Vasculitis or malignancy, well, vasculitis he says is right out, because i'm not getting bruising after inflammations. and malignancy is "at the bottom of his list and almost off it" because I'm not showing any other constitutional symptoms. (night sweats, fatigue, weight loss.)

So right now I'm on: alprazolam 0.25mg, doxepin 25mg, dypenhydramine 50mg, hydroxizine 50mg, fenofexadine 360mg, ranitidine 300mg, escitaprolam 10mg, prednisone 15mg.

If you lit me on fire i'd probably burn with a green flame.

Some of those are antidepressants but they also function as H1/H2 blockers. (secondary and primary use...) which is weird, but apparently some of the antidepressants are also powerful H1-H2 blockers. So not only do I get to put the keibash on my inflammations, maybe I'll be happier to boot :P

The cool thing is, I can walk up to people now and say "C'mon. Stab me with bees and poison ivy. I dare ya."

Anyways, am moving onto the next stage: thyroid screening and thyroid tests. It's possible that it could be hypothyroidism causing some kind of immune reaction. So, thyroid-specific blood panel next week. More needles. :P One good thing about this, this has -totally- desensitized me to needles.
