It is amazing to think it is stronger than Rita AND Katrina.

And me.
Though, speculation is the West Coast of Florida will take the most of it. Us Easterners will (hopefully) be fine. Right? ![]() _____________________

And me. Though, speculation is the West Coast of Florida will take the most of it. Us Easterners will (hopefully) be fine. Right? It's tough to say. Weather channel is showing a wide probability cone. Good news: The storm is predicted to move fast, so flooding may not be as much an issue for inland areas and the east coast of florida. Bad News: Um, "strongest storm on record"? - just hit a record low of 884mb of pressure. _____________________

This, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with global warming

Good news: The storm is predicted to move fast, so flooding may not be as much an issue for inland areas and the east coast of florida. I haven't had meteorology since high school, but (oft-incorrect) "common sense" tells me that a strong, high-momentum storm is likely to make it all the way across Florida to re-charge in the Gulf...? ![]() |

(Fortunately I was able to cancel a business trip to the Bahamas that really did worry me - I got to the airport this morning and they told me I probably would not make it back on Saturday and I phoned my boss at 6:30 AM and he said "Nevermind".)
Now I can stay home and help hubby put up shutters in 94 degree heat and 100% humidity, lose power, eat beanie weanies cooked on a camp stove, sit in the dark with two smelly, angry cats, be bitten by every bug know to mankind and listen to the wind slam strange shit into my house.) Woo Hoo! Life is good in South Florida. Give it up for Wilma the bitch. (I ALWAYS liked Betty & Barney better) Rose will be V _____________________

I can too buy beer, I just have to drive 20 minutes to get it. On second thought, Cris, I'll be in FL sometime in January, after the hurricane season...I'll just say Hi then.

You forgot the Rum, Diet Coke, Bug Off and Cheetos ![]() I have been ammending my list as this thread develops. I appreciate the help. The rum will be in plastic bottles, so that's covered. Diet Coke? Just.....yuck. I don't care how bad this hurricane gets, it will not be bad enough to warrant drinking Diet Coke. Cheetos - good thinking, my 4 year old loves 'em. But for some reason they are called "noo-noo's" at our house. Noo-noo's are added to the list. _____________________

This, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with global warming ![]() Well, actually... we're right in the predicted period for an upswing in hurricanes; they come in cycles. Now, global warming is probably making them a good deal stronger than would be otherwise, but the basic increase it likely to be "normal". _____________________

I predict that next year, when the east coast of the US is simultaneously attacked by five hurricanes of never before recorded strength, this will also be described as "normal."

LOL - considering the orange skanky stuff they leave on our computer mice they should be Noo-noo's at our house too (and will probably be called that from this point on). ![]() _____________________
