Yup, and considering the risks hes taken, being killed by a sting ray is really ironic.Poor wife and 2 kids left behind.

Not to sound insensative, but the man was a walking Darwin Award waiting to happen.

Well... he died doing what he loved to do, taking the sort of risks that he fully acknowledged were a part of that life. My guess, from the news story on-line, is that he died fast, and most likely died happy. There's a heck of a lot worse ways to leave this world than to die quickly while doing something you love to do.

*Nods sadly*

I was very upset to hear about it this morning. He will be sorely missed. At least, as people have said, he was doing what he loved.

Wrong, Darwin awards can't be given to people who've had kids...

Lame Attempt: What was Steve Irwin's least favorite car?? A Corvette Stingray!!!!

Still.... I'll miss that wacky lil' bastard.

Actually, that's still in debate. I was checking into that.

from here.

It's under advanced discussions.

As to Steve's death? Well, passion + curiosity = common sense out window. He had both in plenty and did things that I would never do. Without people like him, we'd probably still be grunting and scratching in caves, for all I know. At least he did take what safety precautions he could while still doing what he loved.

Oddly enough, I always thought he'd die to a snake or a croc, not a stingray.

I do feel for his family. This must be a rough time for them, especially as they probably won't be allowed to mourn in peace.

Very sad. A great loss to Australia, and to his family.
