Torley for the win!

Yeah, I don't have much of a competative streak, SORRY!

Cross the finish line together? Wouldn't that be novel?

Will Ulrika be paying $5KL or splitting $2.5KL in that situation?

After analyzing the post counts over a 24-hour period, it looks like Torley is posting at a rate that's an order of magnitude above Willow's. I'm now going to call the race in favor of Torley officially and move up my predicted date.

Torley will cross the threshold on the 27 January 2006 16:30 PST.

How often can we change our predictions?

You've overlooked one very, VERY key point:

Chinese New Year.

Torley will be too hungover for a while to keep up his pace.

That's a good point. I'll add to the rules that the guess must have been made at least two weeks before the finish date.

As for Chinese New Years, I imagine Torley will make several posts before, during, and after, despite his inebriation. ;)

RUR RUR RUR

BUT, BUT, BUT!!!

1) I don't celebrate arbitrary holidays

and

2) I don't drink alcohol (not most of the time, anyway)

Maybe something really weird will happen.

Nothing Chinese is arbitrary.

Update. In approximately 24 hours, the count has gone from

Willow 9303
Torley 9115

to

Willow 9304
Torley 9195

That's an amazing 80 posts per day for Torley. At this rate, Torley could pass the 10,000 mark in as little as ten days.

To put this post rate in context, it is 10 times my average post rate and I post a lot. At this rate, in a single month Torley would make more posts than I do in a year. Assuming each post takes five minutes to write and post, this equates to almost 7 continuous hours per day spent posting. This is Korean-kid-dead-on-a-toilet dedication, folks. Enjoy the race!

Apparently, they found the poor fellow slumped over dead on a toilet.
Korean drops dead after 50-hour gaming marathon
By Philippe Naughton, Times Online

A 28-year-old South Korean man collapsed and died of exhaustion after playing a computer game almost non-stop for 50 hours.

The man, identified only by his family name Lee, sat down to play the online battle simulation game Starcraft at an internet cafe in the southern city of Taegu last Wednesday morning and stayed there for the next three days, stopping only for brief naps or toilet breaks.

Rumor has it that it's an urban legend but, hey, it made the news so it must be real. :)

Isn't she getting paid to post now? Shouldn't that be a disqualification, or were there no rules to start with?
