First Men on Moon Saw UFOs 25-Jul-2006 In the documentary "Apollo 11: The Untold Story," shown on Britain's Channel Five on Monday night, July 24, astronaut Buzz Aldrin says he, Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins all saw a UFO shadowing their spacecraft. Apollo 11, which took off on July 16, 1969, was the first manned mission to the moon. Aldrin says, "There was something out there, close enough to be observed, and what could it be?" In the documentary, he says, "Now, obviously the three of us weren't going to blurt out, 'Hey, Houston, we've got something moving alongside of us and we don't know what it is,' you know? We weren't about to do that, because we knew that that those transmissions would be heard by all sorts of people and somebody might have demanded we turn back because of aliens or whatever the reason is." He says NASA knew about the UFO but covered up the information. It has just been learned that all but two of the 700 boxes of Apollo 11 videos are mysteriously missing from the National Archives. The footage of the Apollo 11 mission was recorded on special 1-inch magnetic tape, and the only machines that can play it are at Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, which is being closed in the fall of 2006. Astronaut Gordon Cooper, who took part in the earlier Mercury and Gemini missions, had his first UFO sighting as an Air Force pilot. He later said that a UFO landed at Edwards Air Force Base. In 1985, Cooper testified at the UN, saying, "I believe that these extraterrestrial vehicles and their crews are visiting this planet from other planets, which obviously are a little more technically advanced than we are here on Earth. For many years I have lived with a secret, in a secrecy imposed on all specialists and astronauts. I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us." Astronaut Edgar Mitchell, who was the 6th man to walk on the moon, has also said he believes in the existence of UFOs. Whitley Strieber comments, "I was on a television program in the UK with Buzz Aldrin where he treated me with ill- concealed contempt and stated categorically that he had never seen a UFO. While I am glad that he has finally admitted a truth that I was told by other astronauts many years ago, I will never forget his treatment of me. In contrast, Edgar Mitchell and Gordon Cooper were forthcoming with me. If there are craft guided by nonhumans in our skies, then we would be fools to assume that they are not also on the ground and in our lives. It's time for organizations like NASA to stop lying and get on with the process of contact."

I prefer to believe in ISO or Identified Stationary Objects because they are potentially painful to a staggering drunk

The existance of UFOs is undeniably real. Usually, however, when they are finally identified they turn out to be planes, helicopters, swamp gas, etc...

When it comes to UFO's, I think of it this way: IF you were an advanced race, with the ability to travel through space & visit other worlds, WHY would you visit Earth?? It's like when someone from a well-to-do country visits some 4th rate country. And if you really really believe in UFO's, Tom Cruise & John Travolta would like to speak with you

#1) Personally, I will only even consider the possiblity that he might have seen anything if Armstrong and Collins come out and verify the story...the same story (there's already enough fake crap floating around about astronauts and UFOs and alien cities on the moon).
Aldrin is somewhat of a publicity whore. He's been miffed about being the second man on the moon for the past 37 years and not being quite as famous as Armstrong. IIRC he's also tried to claim personal ownership of at least one photo of himself taken while on the moon. If Aldrin really said that quote, I wouldn't put it past him to have fabricated the story as another ego trip/publicity stunt.
#2) Goddard Space Flight Center is not being closed in the fall. I have no idea where anyone would have gotten that idea. Kudos to the author of that article for their wonderful fact checking... :->

Well..think about it. Millions of suns just in our little galaxy alone, each with the possibility of having a life-supporting planet or planets. And our galaxy is just one among millions (or billions). So the odds are astronomically in favor of there being other inhabited planets and other intelligent life forms out there.
Now chances are also greatly in favor of us destroying ourselves or this planet long before we figure out how to go visit any of them.
So unless they land and hop out and do a public relations tour or something, we probably won't be learning from them or getting to know them, other than whatever the government happens to grab up and experiment with.

Ridiculous, and it presupposes that people from more advanced cultures don't study more "primitive," foreign ones when, in fact, they do. All of the time. Are you unaware of the existence of National Geographic? As for the original post, it's interesting. These aren't foil-hat-wearing bloggers drooling over the very notion of alien visits -- rather, they're famous and respected astronauts who've actually, you know, been "out there." I think you really have to be foolish or simply dead-set against the possibility of anything previously unknown to us to dismiss this without even wondering, just a tiny bit, what it was they saw.

So unless they land and hop out and do a public relations tour or something, we probably won't be learning from them or getting to know them, other than whatever the government happens to grab up and experiment with. It's more like billions of suns. And billions of galaxies like ours. Which is why I don't believe in UFO's. How the hell would they ever find us? Even if they did, how would they travel such unimaginably large distances? I'm certain there is life on other planets, for the same reason. With that many stars and planets out there, at least one of them has to have life on it. But they don't visit our planet. I would be more likely to believe that what people call aliens are really just humans from the future studying the past with some sort of time travel before believing that they are from a different planet. After all, they always look human. (Aliens wouldn't.) I am sure that those two did see something, but it wasn't aliens.

And people from well to do countries visit 3rd & 4th world nations all the time just to help out or for the experience. Briana Dawson

IF aliens are here.. they obviosly dont want us knowing about them.. if they are advanced enough to travel so far as we would persume they do.. then they would be sofisticated enough not to let us see them.. AND they certainly wouldnt be seen by so many irregularly blinking people who paste old newspaper on there windows and scare children.
but I do have a humerous image in my head of 2 aliens in their anti gravity ship looking at our Astronauts and saying "aww thats just TOO fucking cute!!"
