Are there any actors or actresses who float your boat physically but whose political views turn you off to where you'd kick 'em out bed with a look of regret?

George W. Bush

His acting is first rate (most people don't even notice his strings) but his politics ruin the illusion for me.

EDIT: Exclude the HOT thing didnt spend enough time reading before I made my joke

Ah.... like TOTALLY Britney Spears!

I recently saw Judy Collins in concert. -Sigh-

Entertainers in the 60's were akin to world leaders.

Today's generation has Britney.

Need I say more.

I suppose that for some folks older than me, Ronald Reagan might have qualified as a good looking actor they found attractive up till he starting being political. I don't know if his acting and political careers overlapped, other than the acting all elected political candidates do in order to deceive voters.

Somebody somewhere has to find Arnold the Governator to be a nice hunk of meat except for what he has to say.

Old examples would be Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. Oh lord did people ever go on about Jane Fonda's political views!

Britney's politics have escaped me, though her skinny little stomach made me mad with jealous anger whenever I used to see it on the tabloids at the grocery store. Has her career gone down the tubes or did my kid just stop listening to the pop music station so now I never hear anything Britney has out?

I'm generally physically repulsed by celebrities of differing political views from my own to such a strong degree, that it would be nearly impossible for me to answer this question.

Having said that -- In his younger years Charlton Heston was teh hawt.

That's kind of sad.. Would you really miss out on a realtionship with someone, simply because they had different political views than you?

Politics are kind of a joke... they're not something you should base love on.

What someone believes is all that they are.

Looks are transitory at best and can be bought on the open market.

Beliefs are more than poltics though.

Your political leanings are not a sum total of your entire consciousness.

Yeah, I was going to say Arnie as well. I was watching one of his Conan movies the other day, I suppose i'm just a sucker for big hunky men.

Who is talking about love here? We are talking about physical appearance.

I'm saying that a person's political beliefs are too important to me to not affect how I see them physically.

Politics are not a joke to me, I doubt I'd have anything in common with someone who didn't take their political views seriously.

Do you base love on physical appearance?? Now THAT's sad.

Back in the day, Ted "Stranglehold" Nugent probably would have turned my crank, but he's just NRA nuts now.

Actually, since there aren't a lot of socially conservative celebrities, its hard for me to think of someone that qualifies. Maybe Tom Cruise, but that's more of a religious thing than political, and I never thought he was that hot anyway.

This seems even more strange.. I mean, physical appearance is kind of separate from political alignment.

How does someone's physical appearance change when you learn their political views?

Their physical appearance doesn't change but they can suddenly go from "DAYUM" to "eew, he turns me off"...hence the title of the thread.

I lived with someone in a romantic relationship and one the things that broke it up was their belief in astrology. It's wasn't politics, but it was belief systems.

Some folks take their own views on right and wrong very seriously, and since their political views are based in part on what they think are right and wrong, folks with sufficiently different political views have to be viewed in some negative way - as evil or dimwitted or something bad.

I guess I just don't understand that kind of view.

My girlfriend and I share very different views on many different things... But certainly not every aspect of existence. We respect the fact that we have different views, and it makes us stronger by helping to have exposure to ideas that are different from our own.

Have you ever seen those couples where they are exactly like each other, and share the exact same political views? They often tend to become insanely extreme, because there's no moderating influence.

Turn ons:

Susan Sarandon/Tim Robbins

Turn offs:

Paris Hilton (her dissertation on US foreign policy in the Middle East and northern Africa is vacuous and vapid, to say the least)

Maybe.

But if your a Commie and your loved one turns out to be a Republican, I bet that sours the milk in a hurry. :)

I think that if politics means anything, then it's based on personal moral certainties and emerges from ones core beliefs. On the other hand perhaps politics is actually meaningless and this is the proof.
