I made 2 mistakes tonight: 1. I saw Snakes on a Plane. 2. I saw Snakes on a Plane. I never screamed so hard in my life...I almost left the movie theater. I lost my voice from screaming so loud, so frequently, and so unwillingly. If you are afraid of airplanes AND snakes...not the movie to see (unless you don't mind sleeping fully clothed with all the lights on in your house for a couple of weeks)...(oh and don't forget to turn that motion sensor alarm on!) /me sits huddled in a blanket (ok 4 blankets) looking left and right up and down then left the up, then back, then up, then right again, then left... I was doing so well.. I thought I lost the "willies" and the "heebie jeebies", I was even going to take a trip overseas via plane next spring. Now I have to start all over again.

Just curious, why are you afraid of snakes? I think they are kind of neat.

Why in the world did you go to see that movie if you are afraid of both snakes and planes? Were you unaware that the movie "Snakes on a Plane" actually contained snakes and a plane?

Would a slow moving snake trip a motion detector especially if was following a stealthy path on the floor as it headed inexorably toward its victim to be?

From: Ursula Madison Why in the world did you go to see that movie if you are afraid of both snakes and planes? Were you unaware that the movie "Snakes on a Plane" actually contained snakes and a plane? LOL, I had no idea that it would be so 'vivid'. I saw Anaconda and Anaconda II and had no problems with that. I go to the zoo and browse the reptile house too...no problem. I was posting not to 'complain' but to let you know that this movie is 'very good'. For it to give me the willies all over again...superb! From: Flavian Molinari Just curious, why are you afraid of snakes? I think they are kind of neat. Just for some general background...once upon a time in basic training, we were doing some miles (spelling) training. It's kind of like laser tag LOL. I had to do 100 push ups to be the "Sniper" for the day. The sniper got to hide in the prone position (on my belly aiming the weapon) for most of the day and shoot at incoming troops. I had been laying there for at least 2 hours picking off my buddies one by one. Well, I didn't really feel much like moving but my drill Seargent said I had to get up and switch out with another Sniper for a while. I got up and there was a big fat snake laying under me. OMG I feaked and started screaming and shit. I was told that the snake was keeping warm. LOL (I was NOT happy). OK, 5 months later I decided to go Airborne (an accomplishment I am very proud of) I was not too fond of planes because of the undeniable reality that wen you crash, you'll probably die. So I figured...Hey if I have a parachute...maybe I'll live LOL. So one evening we did a night jump. If you are familiar with this, you'll know that there is noise and light control..no talking or screaming for that matter and no flashlights etc... Well on this particular jump, I landed out in the cornfield somewhere. I couldn't see and of all the 16 people who jumped from my stick, none of them landed near me. I rustled around to hurry and get my chute rolled up the best I could so I could get the hell back to civilization. As I was gathering my chute, I felt something go over my foot. I thought nothing of it at first, but I felt it again. So I remained still because I figured it was just the parachute's parts. But then it happened....something was slithering over my damn boot. Shit! I started screaming and running towards where the drill seargents were. When I finally got near they had met me in the field. I tried my best to explain amidst the tears and panick attack. They told me to get in the front lean and rest (push up position) for breaking the noise control. They asked me where the snake was. I told them it was where I left my chute. One of them went to check and dragged my chute back to where I was and said that it wasn't there. I said "Like it was supposed to stay there to verify that I saw it?" It slithered away DUH! My arms still hurt from that incident (I was in the front lean and rest for about an hour LOL) So you see my fear of snakes is not a petty thing but a real phobia. Sometimes seeing movies where the snakes are 'obviously' fake is entertaining like 'Anaconda', but this movie was very real and very scary :/

LOL! Snakes & flying dont bother me. Now- if it were a movie about being trapped & having bugs crawling around you, or the kind of bugs that crunch when you step on them, OR *shudders* spiders.... Then I would have to pass on the movie. Ants, flies, earthworms, gnats- no biggy. If it has more than 4 legs- KILL IT!!!! OMG!!! KILL IT!!!!

I am no more afraid of a spider than I am a blade of grass. I have family members (grown men) who will leave the room if a spider shows up. I'll just go on over and step on it...no biggie...but if a snake slithers in you can expect a horror show ....starring me!

A cheesy movie that contained a very disturbing scene, to me anyway, was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom--the scene where bugs are crawling all over Kate Capshaw, especially the part with the giant centipede crawling up her back and up into her hair.

You thought THAT was bad...did you see King Kong (the one with Jack Black)...THAT was disturbing!!!

No, it was something that moved across my foot slowly. I was gathering my chute at the time so I thought it might have been the ropes from it. But when I stopped and the movement on my foot didn't stop I panicked. It was pitch black...no moonlight or anything.
So I could only guess it was a snake...never saw it but since it was in Alabama...in the woods...ya never know.

Look on the bright side. At least you didn't see it in-flight.

I always found that: Bees: They'll leave you alone unless really provoked/threatened Wasps: Buzz around you, daring you to try something Yellow Jackets/Hornets: Just LOOK at them, and they attack. Nasty lil' things! And if you come near their nest? Heh! They're really good at crawling down your shirt!! *ouch*

I don't mind snakes or spiders. I don't like centipides.
The most disturbing film I've seen is Man Bites Dog.
