I'm curious how many of the new users are migrating from WoW to SL.

A big prediction was that WoW was going to get boring quick because it's pretty easy and people would be looking for something more... satisfying, and hopefully, SL would be it.

I played WoW once a while ago. I was a victim of LANK-ing! (Lame Ass Noob Killing) :O
The horror, the horror.
Also, killing bunnies for hours is not my idea of a fun time and never will be.

Never heard of WoW. I did the free trial of TSO and enjoyed it for *that* time but got real bored with the having to keep an eye on whether I needed to pee or eat, which was all the time. Skilling got boring too. TSO is what prompted me to search for more virtual world type games and that is how I found SL.

WoW and SL are two different beasts entirely. The majority of WoW players aren't really "SL stock", so to speak. Over the last year, I've observed the personalities of your typical Second Lifer, and while many of us have played MMORPGs, not many of us "leave" an MMORPG 'for' Second Life. SL seems to be a general constant in its users' lives, whereas MMORPGs are peripheral entertainment when one[Second Life member] feels like playing a game.

Oh and for the record, no, I didn't play WoW before SL (WoW's release date was after my joining).

I tried WoW and was addicted for one month. Thanksfully my temporary CC number expired and I could manage to resist paying for another month and thus avoid losing 6 monthes of my life like I did with Anarchy Online back then.

MMORPG is crack. Unconstructive crack. (SL is (can be) constructive at least)

Have been living in SWG from the begining (still am)

Tried WoW and EQ2 at the same time. Liked EQ2 better.

The day Guildwars came out, SOE desided to clone a bit of WoW and Guild Wars into SWG.

Quit EQ2 and SWG ( 3 accounts), (all owned by SOE).

So I left for Guild Wars. Got butt bored with GW. Went back to SWG.

SWG is now boring, so I checked out SL.

HERE I AM.

Good lord, you really are boring. Are you always so stuck in the past and consumed with how you were here before the majority of other people? I've read three posts from you tonight and all three centered around the same theme - I'm older than you all here. Yawn.

You're like the old man of Second Life. And your constant anecdotes are just as interesting and important as my granddad's, to add a little context :) Oh and my granddad's been dead for about 10 years, to add further context.

I have been dead for about 11 years now. And I play WOW... but not before I played SL (which is more of a 'constant' I agree) and now I have thrown in a little Eve online - obviously I like variety and will play just about anything that catches my fancy.

I played the WoW. I admit it.
I clicked the guards. Put them in fits.
I wandered the land, searching for loot.
I /train ed, I aggroed, I auctioned my foot
"Wow" I first said when I saw the toony style
WoW it soon spread to eat up time by the mile

But the grind did fade
And all the snerts made
Me leave Night Elf Glade

And not look back.

I played, & play EQ.
I found SL, then tried WoW. WoW got boring after hitting lvl 60.
Quit EQ, quit WoW, stayed here, went back to playing EQ again now and loving it again the second time around. :D

The MMORPG I played before coming into SL was Asherons Call, which I played for almost 2 years. I did try out the original EQ, but didn't stay past the first week.

Goodness.. this sounds just like me. I actually was playing SWG beofore I came to SL as well.. maxed out my level.. and was grinding to Jedi.. but could not handle it anymore.. I love how laid back SL is.

(Yes I also played EQ2, WoW, EVE, MXO, and a few others.. got really tired of the level grind.. no more ahh!!!!)

Been in here longer then WoW....it gets boring but it is like Diablo 2 so tones down the mononity of stagnant waiting for people to build cooler crap in SL. Besides both have perks, but also their downfalls.

I actually played FFXI before I came here, WoW did not exist when I first discovered SL. WoW is the place I WILL migrate to if/when they throttle the hell out of any remaining usefulness in SL. ;P
