Popped in the season 1 dvd of Sealab 2021 and I thought this would make a good poll question.

Hell yes. But only if the robot was rated to last 200+ years. None of this cheap crap we have nowadays. My old nintendo barely runs and it's been around for less than two decades.

I'm not falling for any of your games, Queen Dopplopoulos.

I think I might if my real life body was dying and I felt I had more to accomplish and could accomplish it in a robot body.

Interesting extra question: would you put your brain in several robot bodies at the same time?

Assuming you could put it in one, why not many?

And, to further that thought, would you let your brain log onto SecondLife? Would you let many instances of your brain log onto SecondLife?

Like the gattaca question in this forum, a question which once wasn't reasonable to ask but now is, these questions will soon (next 10-20 years) become very realistic.

I would prefer to do the inverse and make/replace my brain with something digital... Would be much easier to justify my existing neural "bugs" and "crashing". ;)

You'd have to be a true octopus, because Dr. Octopus only has four additional appendages. What a misnomer. :p

hmmm not really, with his original four appendages (five :p ?) that would render the number eight. :D

Good lord... but like, legs don't do the same thing as arms. At least not where I'm from! Unless you're a monkey, then you can grab things with your toes! :D

I have a friend who needs a robot body...

I was telling him about Futurama and how the great heads of history sometimes find a robot body to jump onto (Nixon).

He could use that...he's going into his 4th spinal chord surgery in the last 3 years.

What the heck would a robot want with my brain!? It's all squishy and really high-maintenance.

Only if I could have the strength of five gorrilas!

And given that they only come as large as five feet, I'd feel right at home, being naught but 5'2" anyway.

But why put my troublesome, organic brain in a sleek, sexy robot? I'd rather just have my consciousness converted to digital, then uploaded into the robot. That way I don't have to worry about keeping the brain alive or feeding it or anything. :D

Yes! or get a body like Major in Ghost in the shell, so I can flip my watch at random! random I tell you!

otherwise it would be cool to have a sprocket there a dinger hoober here, organ and bladder removal is a must, replace it all with something thats not running on Windows 95.

Kill all humans! :p

Ooh if I could get a body like Motoko's I'd totally go for it! I might miss swimming though. I can't wait until 2nd Gig gets to the U.S.

You know what I kept wondering? Why did Batou keep bugging the Major about having a female body?

----

LOL, it seems the first volume hit shelves last week. :p

Possibley because he wanted a "male" drinking buddy?
they've known each other for a long time I think it just damnages his male ego to have a female partner on the job, :p

but still moving your brain into a robot body would be awesome, the cost of getting it done, Not so awesome,
soon we'll see J-Lo running on a mac,
and the terminator with a huge mech body
and cats and dogs running on wireless internet, :D

Well.. Obviously, the Major was perhaps either originally male(maybe?) or Batou first met the major when she was in a male-like prosthetic body. Or maybe he just likes messing with her. He's got permanent glasses, so anything could happen. ANYTHING!!

I read somewhere years ago that in the original magna, the Major actually had a kid's prostetic body. Later, in the original full length feature anime, she was shown with an adult body. BTW, in the same movie, she did swim.

To answer the original question, I want chainsaws for hands! :D
