Y'know, there's got to be something done about the Atheistic Fundmentalists on this board. I say we get them liquored up on the drinks of their choice. :D

Absinthe. Thank you.

Angst in post-partum is a serious issue.

Yes, I agree. I hope all is well and this is just a sign of frustration with the forums.

Or be constructive and just leave an Origin of Species next to it?

Meh. Destroying books is wrong.
It depends. If it's community- or state-sponsored then it's censorship. If it's an individual destroying a book, then it's an exercise of their free-speech rights.

Below is an example of someone tearing up a bible in class as a demonstration of their First-Amendment rights. Note that they were disciplined for their actions, which brings into question the separation of church and state and the efficacy of the First Amendment when one is surrounded by religious fundamentalists.

BURLEY, Idaho - An Idaho English teacher is in trouble for ripping up a Bible in class. Burley High's Karen Christenson says she was trying to illustrate a point about censorship, as her students read Ray Bradbury's novel “Fahrenheit 451.” Principal Jeff Harrah says Christenson isn't a Bible hater. He adds the idea behind the controversial lesson was a good one, but with a bad result. Christenson has been disciplined but officials aren't saying what action is being taken against her. Harrah says she's a great teacher.

Ah, so if an angry mob of religious fundamentalists storm a library and burn all the books on witchcraft, it would only be an issue of freedom of speech?

Next time you're in a hotel, take or destroy the bible.

And you people think I'm an extremist?

Between destroying Bibles in Hotels and keying SUVs, you're nothing more than a vandal.

No, PUBLIC LIBRARY, destruction of property, etc. Buy your own books and burn them, I'll bring the marshmallows.

Unless that book does not belong to them, in which case its a crime. Willful destruction of property, or something... I'm not bothering to look up the laws and stuff.

Now, go buy an SUV and torch it in a safe manner (????), or go buy a bible (they are not given freely for you to destroy them) and shread it, fine. Now you have free-speech if you want to call it that.

I am betting that teacher bought that bible, rather than stealing it (or she destroyed school property).

This and the 'Key a SUV" thread are both about the same thing, breaking the law as a protest against something you don't like. Civil disobediance? Nope. Criminal behavior. Next thing we know, you'll be sniping church-goers from the belltower as a form of 'free speech'.

Burn all the books you want, so long as they belong to you. It's a shame, and its wrong, but you have the right to be shameful and wrong.

Would it be appropriate to first pee on it and then run it over with my SUV?

Alternative uses for a bible. A little base but amusing nonetheless. :D

Till now you just bothered me. Now I think you're no better than a suicide bomber from Al Queda. At their hearts they are motivated by an intolerance for those whose beliefs differ from their own, as do you.

Being as you're not just about to blow yourself up, I might take the time to ask why you actively seek to tar and feather yourself in this manner. Why do you want to promote yourself as slow, stupid and intolerant? Is this a funny game for you?

I agree with you. I'm comparing her suggestion to take Bibles from hotel rooms to taking books from a library, both are illegal.

Oh Ulrika is so much more than a vandal. She is a revolutionary! Of course, one person's revolutionary is often another person's terrorist. OMG, Ulrika is a terrorist! Where will it all end?   Vive la revolución!

The Terms of Service, Section 5, state "you agree that you shall not: [...] take any action or [...] transmit Content [...] that is [...] hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable".

I believe this thread's initial post qualifies as exactly the type of hateful content this section of the TOS forbids.

The discipinary response to the violation of this section is also spelled out in Section 5: "Any violation by you of the terms of the foregoing sentence may result in immediate and permanent suspension or cancellation of your Account. You agree that Linden may take whatever steps it deems necessary to abridge, or prevent behavior of any sort on the Service in its sole discretion, without notice to you."

I encourage the abuse staff at Linden Lab to respond to this hateful attempt to cause religous enmity between it's users is such a way as to permanently eliminate the threadstarter's ability to do so.

They're so-called because you just called them it. Rather self-defeating don't you think? ;)
