Today my RL DH got me a new computer workcenter... I think maybe he was tired of my computer desk looking like a bomb went off on top of it. Sooo.. he got me a pretty new one with all kinds of spaces to store my crap!

SO halfway through making it look all pretty, i came up with an idea to start a thread for us all to share our workspaces :P

Ah yes .. here is my home office, being a sort of shelf laid across two chests of drawers in my bedroom, and covered with assorted pc equipment, an electric shaver, a 'phone, nail clippers, camera and case and lens cleaner, chocolate bar wrapper, calendar, couple of letters from the bank (argh), an Alice band, hankies, coffee mug (which needs refilling), a pen, mobile recharger, lamp, large torch (to prop up the loose side on the cpu (wot is loose cos otherwise there is overheating) and .. oh that's all.

Well I can contribute, but I can't get a RL pic on here. So I'm going to have to bore you with written details and some visual references.

The desk itself is from Staples. Conservative looking office desk.

On it:

Laptop Computer

Additional mouse (can't use the stupid touchpad thing)

Additional keyboard (can't type on laptops to save my life, I need a full size keyboard)

iPod Video (except mine has camoflauge skin on it)

Saitek x45 Joystick & Throttle controllers

Nytol QuickCaps (sleeping pills)

Death Star Pez (with really old pez in it)

Radu Action Figure

Tales from the Crypt DVDs (season 1 and 2)

Sig Sauer P220 .45 ACP Handgun

"Banker" type lamp (similar but not exact)

And while not technically ON my desk, it is hanging above it, and I hate to leave it out:
Bettie Page Photograph (not exactly same one as in pic)

So that's it. Kind of a mess, but it works for me. :D Great idea for a thread!

Here's mine:

This is usually how it ends up- Messy! The desk dates back to 1988. Today's desks are just too TINY for my liking. I had to build the desk in the room where its at cuz it wont fit thru the door. It holds a 19" TV + 19" Monitor + VCR + DVD Player. I gotta use the drawer to hold the mouse on a board. Now you're thinking "Um, where's the computer itself?" Well, my computer is a FULL tower case about 3 ft high. So it & the scanner & printer are on a seperate cart off to the side:

No pic at the moment.

I don't use a desk. I use a rolling metal shelf for the monitor, the external hub for the sound card, and an eight track. I put the keyboard on my lap and use the laser mouse wherever is convenient. The tower is an old server/tower case on wheels.

Oh yeah... the only light is a dull orange glow from a heavily gelled lamp and I blacked out the windows with old blankets (cuts down on external noise).

This pic was made for the RL/SL snaps thread, but it shows the station in all it's Post-It noted glory. My Burning Life entry 2005 was an impressionistic view of the station as well (modem, router, cable connecting them all died w/in 3 weeks, I got a lil pissed about it).

I'm with you about modern desk size, I'm actually using the full sized dining room table of my childhood under that yellow sheet! What you cannot see is all that's up on the surface. Left to right I've got my subwoofer, a stand my dad built for me to raise the monitor to be EXACTLY at eye level, the mid-tower and then a mostly unused pc under my scanner/printer/copier. In front of that, theres a stack of cd's and videos (the media center is directly to my left so I can patch stuff together some day as well as watch tv and comp at the same time, UTILITY!! Then my cell phone/charger, keyboard, mouse (and or drawing tablet) beverage space, reference books, screen cleaning supplies too. My lil universal multimedia control center. Muuwahahaha!

Oh, the modem, router and headset mic all live on top of the mid tower and scanner.

We won't discuss the items stored beneath the table other than waaay outta date comp discs (yes I have missile command or whatever it's called for MacII), printer paper of varying types, an unused printer (ALPS MD 1000, damn good machine) and other toys!

Here is the RL/SL snap, and here's a Burning Life Snapzilla image link that's pretty good, thanks to Richie Waves (http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/pic.aspx?id=29105&sort=PictureID+desc&Search=Burning+Life+3)

Hmm... No picture right now, but I have CDs and dishes littered around my computer. Cups and spoons occasionally, too.

I saw how nice and neat the first couple pics were and I got worried. Then I saw how nice and comfy other people's nests look. Here's mine... the chairs on the left are for the cats, they stay off my keyboard better if they have a comfy perch to watch from.

The chairs for cats are awesome. I thought my desk was a wreck, but I'm rethinking that now.

I have this "mission control" situation at home. The under-desk neon is off in this picture, alas. ;)

Fortunately no cats in this picture; mine have learned not step on the keyboard on pain of death, so they stand in front of the monitor instead.

I can just see your foot catching in the flex and that lamp going flying across the room.

Ah well, look closely and you'll see that the flex is safely out of the way and plugged into the extension cable. The real danger lies in the mouse that isn't in the photo but is threatening to jump into the cpu. Bad idea for mouse and machine. Mouseinmachinima. *Flash*

I must say these pictures are really destroying my "immersion." :)

And I always imagined that Garnet was a messy like me.
Now I have seen how neat and tidy she (and the majority of you), are I am certainly not going to publish a picture of the garbage tip that is my office. :o

My desk! It's a seven-foot length of discarded kitchen countertop. Holds EVERYTHING.

The monitor's on this little wooden stand a buddy made in high-school as a desk organizer. I found it more useful for putting the screen at a comfortable eye-level. Underneath the monitor are several writing utensils(mostly Sharpies), a letter-opener, a lighter, and a 4MB flash card that came with my camera. Below THAT is the following: 1 shotgun-shell-shaped lighter(non-functioning), three dice, one MicroMachines-scale tank, an ancient six-foot tape measurer, my watch, a calculator, and the timer mechanism from an old tape-recorder.

Elsewhere in that immediate area are two HeroClix figurines(Incredible Hulk and S.H.I.E.L.D. SWAT officer), the box with my high-school class ring in it, some tape, a pocket-knife.. And three spent 7.62x39mm casings from an SKS.

My TV remote is in the most useless place imaginable.. ..Until you notice that the TV itself doesn't have a Mute button on it. >.< Next to the TV are a roll of duct-tape, a small mirror, and the VCR remote atop that. Then a roll of TP from when I was sick, the caller ID box, and my beverage(topped with a thin CD case to keep bugs out).

The TV has a few things on top of it: a small plastic gargoyle, the manual from a Tandy 1000TX computer(don't ask), and a holstered Glock 17 6mm Airsoft gun(spring-action).

On the other side of the TV are the VCR(which doesn't play tapes) and PS2, as well as the phone.

The black shelvy thing next to the monitor is the CD rack from the inside of this huge CD case I have. It holds my PS2 games, the PC games I play most, a couple of notebooks, and the PS1 game Resident Evil 2.

Next to my chair is a little metal cart we found here when we moved in. It has assorted junk atop it, and a couple of Airsoft guns below("AKS-74U" and P90). On the table behind that is my printer/scanner combo unit, a box of instant hot cocoa, and a delightful derby hat.

And finally, on top of the PC Tower itself are my wireless headphones and a package of Post-Its.

Oh.. And the cabinets up top hold assorted crap, such as driver-disks and game-boxes.

Phew.. That was a pageful. Hehe.. anyway, here's the pics:

That photo, I promise you, is an aberration owing to the very recent removal upstairs of my pc etc. When I get round to it I'll send you a photo of my living room. You will laugh your socks off. Only don't do it in my house or you'll never find them again.

So do post your photo!!
