A bit of a meltdown about guns (rant & very bad words!)

Yes, this post is a holy-god-she's-lost-it post and is semi-related to SL. I've got to get this off my chest before I go directly postal in General on someone well-deserving of it.

What is it with these little shits who think it's their god-given right in any kind of massively-multiplayer world to be able to fuck over their fellow player, whether it be with guns or whatever weapon they can pull from their arsenal of grief? Is this a result of emotional stunting, sociopathy, being immature/selfish regardless of age? WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE WHO GET YOUR JOLLIES BY RUINING OTHER'S FUN?

There are many ways to grief in SL; we see it with guns, other weapons, land extortionists, merciless ethically-bereft land swoopers and so on. This thing that Cube's been posting about, the anti-push stuff? Hey, that's good news, right? It's at least a start. Much more needs to be done if we want to keep ourselves from being raped by any raging shithead with the latest and greatest weapon designed to get around any means of protection we may have.

GOD FORBID you little sociopathic weapon-freaks shoot people who WANT to play your little games. Because, y'know, the ol' erection gets SO much harder when you shoot people who don't want to be shot.

I'm just sick of it. SICK to DEATH of these guys who absolutely MUST have a way to push people around; nothing but another kind of rapist. Sick of these guys who follow-up posts with dismissive, arrogant shit like "So much for anti-push. End of story."

This isn't restricted to in-world, Champie. This goes for every MMOG out there.

So say someone goes up to someone else, punches them in the face. The punched person isn't allowed to say ANYTHING lest they be accused of whining? Yeah, I've seen this viewpoint before, and it STILL sucks major ass.

In your scenario, there are a few options:
1. Punch them back, kick their asses and accept the consequences (you may get your ass beaten)
2. Walk away and accept the consequences (you may feel like you didnt defend yourself)
3. Call the police and accept the consequences (legal entanglements, etc.)

You may notice that none of the options involve crying to a bunch of forum dwellers looking for some kind of sympathy.

Now, stop whining, straighten yourself up and get on with your life, first or second, whichever is the one that's getting you all worked up.

And yes, asshats are part of EVERY MMOG. Just like society- some folks are nice & polite. Others are total assholes.

How about that guy who demanded that a crowded club owner unban him after setting off a nuke there, and tried to claim that he didn't know it would be offensive, and later talked about having played a plethora of multiplayer games. Pathetic, just pathetic.

Even if SL was an FPS, it's not a deathmatch game, and since when was it considered okay to shoot unarmed people dancing in a club in ANY game?

The recent limits on push are a good start, (And something that should have been implemented a year ago.) but it's not enough.

And, as someone else said, what's wrong with the little shitheads is obvious. Small genitals.

I'm sorry about you experiences. I've had griefing trouble myself. Something that I've found does help a lot is the PsyTec security HUD. It has a first rate move-lock which helps most of the pushes from cheap weapons, and generally at least gives you enough time to eject them, or to sit down.

Griefers are people whose parents didn't love them when they were children. They torture rats with hacksaws and pull the wings off of flies. As adults, they will have opinions about how Miller Lite tastes better than Coors Lite. They will die either by their own hands or at the hands of others, having never accomplished anything more than having a really sweet set of Mag wheels on their rusted-out cars (Secondary accomplishment: Scoring that hot ride for $150 from the low-functioning brother-in-law of their ugly spouse), and being promoted to daytime shift supervisor at the gas station. Griefers also do drugs. Cheap drugs.
